My first real pre-stretch

I read on customer feedback that Alpha Gut 2000 should be pre-stretched. In the past I had only pre-stretched slightly to reduce coil memory (10 seconds.) This time I did the same kind of stretch, but I did it three times, with just a few seconds rest in between. It seemed to go well until during two tension pulls, I had the string 'give' more than usual and only for a brief moment, as if that part of the string had a weak spot in it.

What can I expect from this stringbed now? Will it break sooner than usual or develop hot spots? When I test it with bouncing the ball off of it, it seems pretty consistent. What can I do to avoid compromising the string during pre-stretching in the future?

Since your signature says you use a CP stringer, let it pull for 15-20 additional seconds before clamping off. 2 cents.

BTW, I suspect that the sudden give when you applied tension means that the strings were not pre-stretched in that section by your 'pre-stretching technique.' I still don't pre-stretch, but I will apply tension for a ten count before clamping since I also have a CP machine. I think this does give a more consistent bed.

I think I must have over-pre-stretched it. It plays very crisp with very little dwell. I'm planning on ordering a couple sets of Gamma Revelation 17 soon. I've used it once in this racquet, without a pre-stretch, and it bagged out pretty quick. But I think I'll go easier on the pre-stretch next time.

This is all in a Biomimetic 200.

My thought on the matter is that it seems like a manual stretch before stringing would give a more consistent stretch to the entire length.

I think I pulled too aggresively this time, giving me an inconsistent and too much stretch.

I spoke too soon. The strings have a little give now. I thought the pre-stretch maybe would have forgone a break-in period. Nice!
