My first video - serve practice

Hi All,

I am very excited to share my first video.
Actually, this is the first time I have ever seen myself playing :)
Frankly, I thought I will look terrible but I am reasonable satisfied with how I am doing here. But, I am no expert and have never taken any coaching. So, I am looking forward for your inputs to help me improve.

The first video is the normal flat serve (my normal first serve)
and the 2nd one is the topspin/kick serve which is my normal second serve.
Sorry for the not-so-great angle but I am not having a tripod and this is the best I could manage.

I was not really trying to hit it hard but focusing more on the form, technique, smooth and relaxed action.

FYI - I am playing tennis for the last 1.5 years. As you can see from the video, I am pretty short and serve is one area where I am focusing a lot to help me improve further. I think my baseline game is much better than my serve.

Please provide your inputs and suggestions to help me improve.

I would advise taking the video from behind when you can as well, it helps more.

Noted, will do the same next time.

slight waiter tray, search with google to find 1000000 articles on how to fix it.

Thanks, I was not aware of the terminology but I do understand the problem.
I have been consciously trying to avoid opening up the racket face early. Looks like there is still some issue there. Feeltennis has a good article on how to correct it. Will try some of the drills.

Any more pointers, anyone?
I was expecting a few more replies given the expertise in this forum.

May be the angle of the video is making it hard to provide feedback

Your toss is a little bit erratic and you aren't using your legs at all. Your toss is also a little bit too far in front for your first serve. for your second serve the toss is way too far in front of you and it should also be a little bit more to the left, but i cant tell for sure without looking at a different angle from behind you.

Waiter's Tray technique. The shoulder and elbow joints extend and the wrist joint flexes to develop racket head speed. Looks as if the racket is rotated around/after impact. There is no upper arm rotation for racket head speed. This is the type of serve that the largest number and maybe majority of posters are using.

Better video if you can view racket against a sky background and get a little bigger image. The faster parts of the serve, such as the swing at the ball, are too rapid to analyze with slow frame rate videos.
