Q. It looked like your foot was fine. Can you talk about how that felt today.
RAFAEL NADAL: Well, very happy to be in semi-finals, first thing. My foot is not fine. But, you know, we are in quarter-finals of Wimbledon. Is an emergency, so I had to play. So we decided to sleep a little bit the zone of the foot to play the rest of the tournament, and that's what I gonna do.
For me is the last tournament in one month, or in one month and a half, so I have to try my best. Is always for me a dream play here in Wimbledon. I'm in quarterfinals and I had to do, and I gonna do for semi-finals, too.

RAFAEL NADAL: When you sleep the foot you don't feel nothing.

RAFAEL NADAL: I told you. When you sleep the foot before the match, the anaesthetic is for five hours, so you don't feel nothing.
Q. You said after Del Potro that you were worried. Is that still the case now, that you are worried about your foot holding up for the rest of the tournament?
RAFAEL NADAL: No, I'm not worried about my foot. I went to the hospital. I did the MRI. I did the echo here, the ultrasound here. We didn't see nothing real important. If you have something real important you have to go out of the tournament.
I don't have nothing really important. I have pain on the foot. I cannot run in perfect conditions without sleep the foot. But with the I don't know how exactly to say in English. Is strange for me. The anaesthetic there I don't feel nothing, I don't feel the pain.

This is getting old from Nadal...I hope his opponents are not buying this bul*****! I hope by now they have realized that Nadal likes to play mind games with his opponents both on & off the court.

Im tired of hearing people whinge about Nadal, im not even really a fan, but its just irritating when every other thread on this forum if 'boohoo i think Nadal hasn't hurt his foot'
You do realize that withdrawal is not the only option for injury? Athletes play through injuries all the time with painkillers, tape jobs and adrenaline. If he wants to play with an injured foot that's his right as is his right to answer questions about his foot. Much ado about nothing here.

Good point well made. Also, we can all switch off from Nadal's injurious ramblings. We're not forced to listen to them.
He doesn't "keep bringing it up", he gets asked questions in interviews.

i am not going to say definitively that i think he is faking or he is actually injured but more and more i find myself speculating this with him. one thing also adds to it is that as far as i can remember, i may be wrong, he has never called an injury timeout when ahead. only when behind or things are tight and not going his way. plus with so many of these cases he shows no sign of the injury before or after treatment, just saying that these things make me wonder

Not true. He called one during the AO 09 final when he was winning and said (to the trainer) if it didn't get better he would have to stop.

Similar situation this year, he was about to break and called the trainer. It is a sure sign of faking, you see he is trying his best to kill his own momentum so that um... ummmmm...

So Rafas was injured?
Yes, he was injured (no MRIs needed, just look at the score line). The injury was worsened after Novak won match point.
