Cool I was just about to order 1 to test , then was like, darn it, now all good to go.

Which one you're planning to buy? What's your racket?

I had the head tk82 (rectangle), it makes the handle feels soft, which helps if your racket Wilson mostly (doesn't match perfectly). Weighs only 20g. So you can increase the size without increasing the weight, it could even reduce the wight!

Have a gxt prestige L3, then I bought 3 L4's. I thought I'd try the 82s L4 to replace the L3 and then if I like replace other 3. Also have a speed mp and instinct mp with L3's. If I keep these as 16x19's I occasionally employ I might switch these also

Guys this is my first adventure with custom racket mods. I want to buy an extra long pallet for a head radical OS to lengthen the racket to 28 inches.

Does anybody have a link from TW Europe that would do the job?

FWIW, the TK82 pallets that fits the radicals come 1"+ longer than on a normal frame, so if you're wanting to extend it by another inch (28") it will work. Extend the hairpin first then trim the pallet to fit the length.

The swing weight though.. it's going to feel like a hammer.

My pallets came today, so 10 days, not too shabby. There's a good video by teekaywhy here on removing pallets with heat gun.

https://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/index.php?threads/head-racquet-pallet-removal-how-to-do-it.637164/

I bought tk82s , its about an inch longer. I might try to leave 3/16 gap to extend racquet by that much. With all the torque on the serve any more than that might be a problem. Not sure how you could extend hairpin and make it sturdy. I want to use my head zepp also.

So heated up a pan if water, it was about 1ft diameter 3 inch deep filled about 1/4 inch from top. Once it was bubbling slightly, not even boiling stuck handle in at an angle and rotated avery 5 seconds after 45 seconds took out put a thin knife in the seam near bottom and pryed a little, put back in water for 30 seconds then could just get knife down in from the bottom pushed it in like a cold knife through butter. Gotva longer knife and it popped off in one piece, slightly warped from heat, for 12 bucks I'd just order a new one, not reuse. Repeated above process for other side. 5-10 min tops.

Took of old tape, knife had sliced it up. When to store earlier in the day, couldn't findcany double sidedtape , then saw the 3m window kits and realized I had a roll of that already. It worked like a charm 4 strips length of pallet.
Cut 7/8 inch off the pallet, and pressed them on. This gives me 1/4 inch extension. So now I got a gxtmp+
So because I measured well I knew I just needed to drill holes 1/4 below the butt cap from the old holes. Made sure I had the right side and hammered in the original staples. Perfect, took an hour though. Seems really square. Hope its worth it. Gonna wrap on a skin feel and try in my clinic tomorrow morning.

So the racquet is weighing super light. Wish I weighed th pallets before putting them on.
Anyone else notice if the 82s weighs less than 82?

So my racquet did decrease in weight. Seemed the pallets I bought were lighter. Going to buy next set from tweurope and see if there is a difference. The original tk82 on racquet seemed to be denser styrofoam and or thicker plastic coating.
Played with lighter replacement one today , was great on ohbh , more stable grip for me

So the experiment was good?

Never used the TK82s, but my TK82 weighs 20g, liked the softness but was bad for 1hbh.

Man, if they fit Wilson perfectly. I hate the harshness of wilson handle, and it can reduce the weight by around 15g, great for ps85!

The hairpin (inside dimension of pallet) is 1.00 x 0.70 inches
Measured 1.00-1.04 and 0.68-0.69 with vernier caliper.
In another thread I think someone mention using a 1mm two sided tape to make up gap , not sure if that was for wilson. Home stores have that tape for hanging objects.

I would be very surprised if there was any noticeable loss in weight, especially if you went up in size! I wish i could find the double sided tape that head uses, very sticky even after you reuse it.

Honestly I think the pallets I got seemed to have thinner plastic. I just ordered some more from tw europe to do my other racquets. The first one was from another uk distributor. My prestige gxt mp is weighijg 11.77 oz , it has 5 grams of lead in the hoop, and 18 # strings. Its never been this light.

So I weighed the 7/8 inch section of original 82 pallet 1.4g, and the 82s 7/8 I cut off 1.1 g.
So the 82s was indeed lighter. Will be interesting to see if tw europe ones are also lighter

Does anyone know if TK82S should leave gap between the pallets? I just had it installed to my PT57A from Pro Shop who strings my rackets and noticed the size 3 grip feels BIG!

Removed the leather grip and there is like 1-2mm gap, is it normal? Ive played with Wilsons H22 recently and the grip feels much smaller in size.

Yes TK82S is a bit bigger than the regular TK I installed one S pallet on my regular size and felt like a full size bigger with Head Leather I got a thinner grip and was fine, not perfect but decent

Well that explains, thanks! My other Head Pro Tour 630 has TK82S grip 2 and it feels small so I thought this handle might have been installed wrong or sth.

Here are some pics of the TK82S size3.

I feel a significant difference when I install a new TK82S pallet on an older (or pro-stock) frame from Head. It feels like the hairpin is 1 mm or 2 bigger then on a hairpin that is originally intended to have a TK82S pallet. Maybe the older TK57/76 pallets have a fraction bigger inner measurements?

A TK82S pallet on a older/pro-stock Head feels bigger and also way to round (if that is the right word). The grip turns out to "high" in the palm so the sides of the grip feels to short. When I install a 82S pallet on older/pro-stock Heads i use a smaller size pallet (L3 instead of my normal L4 size) and on the sides i add 1 strip of white sports tape. I just leave the bevels at 12 and 6 (if the frame is laying flat on a table) without tape to make the grip feels perfect. This solution works perfect for me on that type of hairpins.

On a normal new Head frame with 82S pallet from the factory i just use a normal L4 pallet without any need to modify it.

Thank you very much, thats good to hear that Im not crazy about it.

I feel the same that the (old pro stock, in this case PT57A) hairpin is sligthly too big for the TK82S pallet and it just doesnt fit 100% perfectly.

Im gonna go with one size smaller handle/pallet and test the same way as you adviced, thanks!

I have put TK82 on PT10’s with zero problems! I’ve also had TK82S on PT10 again with zero problems. Some sets of pallets do have a slight gap. I’ve experienced that with TK76. I had a gap on the TK76 pallets on the i.Prestige MP that was like that from the factory.

Okay very good to know thank you! Anyways at least this installed TK82S Grip feels huge comparing to any other same size 3 handles I have held.

I will receive another PT57A and then try to test fit new TK82S pallet and see how it fits. If there is same gap I think TK82S might be better to use in one size smaller, at least for me.

Thanks vs, youre the man!

Can I ask how do you install the pallets, do you use 3M spray adhesive or double sided tape for ex.?

Im previously more used to rounder shape grips with Wilsons but actually now when shadow swinging my new TGT260.3 which seems to have TK82, it feels perfect for my SW forehand grip and for continental grip for other shots. TK82S seems to be too round and large.

Might as well try those classic Head shapes out on PT57As too.

Bumb! Nice thread! I have a very extreme Western grip, I like the TK82 far better mostly out of habit, is the tk82s palett also better for Western grip and not just the sw ??
Fascinating topic

I have three YTPMPs that I use (I have another two in standard length). 2 have the normal Head Grip shape and one has the more squarish. I just play with it - I've tried to change Head pallets before and didn't do a very good job at it. I'd send it out if I really wanted them all the same.

I have a similar situation where I have 3 Prestige Pros with square shape TK82S pallets and other 3 with traditional head TK82. Even though I like TK82, I still take the other ones to the court and hit with them. I don't want to change a good thing going on.
