My Initial Experience with Wise USA( fedex)

Well I ordered the wise unit over 2 weeks ago and it's still not here. Herb from Wise has been very helpful but fedex is a different story. After waiting for 5 days for the unit to ship, it shipped at 7pm the 6th day after my order was placed. The package was scheduled to be delievered on the 8th of march. What a suprise when 9pm on the 8th came and no package. I called fedex and they told me they can't locate my package and it seems as though it is lost. It never made it to a hub and after almost a week it only made it to Texas today. Fedex was unwilling to do anything about it and it didn't seem to bother them that they lost a pretty big package. My net result of all of this is that I probably won't get the unit for another week. Total time to get package? Around 3 weeks!!! My advice: NEVER SEND BY FEDEX UNLESS YOU HAVE TO. I will go back to hoping I get the unit before my spring break ends.

I guess Herb doesn't hold inventory? I'm not sure but it was ordered Wednesday and of one week and didn't ship until thursday the following week after 7pm. That wouldn't have bothered me but now fedex claims it has only gotten to TX after an entire week. I asked if they can ship it faster from there and they claimed that they can't because I would have to pay another shipping cost and the package would have to be pulled from the sorting facility and re sorted or something. So right now its in Irving, TX and only has a status of arriving there at 10am it doesn't even say that it shipped out yet, and has no eta for delivery. This is by far the worse experience I had with fedex and I did have several of them. Thats why I never use fedex if I have a choice.

If it was shipped by "FedEx Home" versus regular FedEx, I'm not supprised. I had bad experiences with FedEx Home and HP. They shipped my computer by FedEx Home and it was a nightmare. FedEx Home makes the US Postal Service look like the best shipper ever.

How come it took so long to ship the unit initially?
For me it took 2 weeks and 3 days to get my Wise. It was over the Thanksgiving holidays, so lost 3 days. I don’t think he inventories the units, may assemble and send as needed. My unit did come with the new roller bearing linear gripper which is very nice. It has worked well for me, can’t imagine going back to the drop weight, I am totally spoiled.
Make sure the string is almost straight from the racket to the linear gripper. My first attempt was to mount it so I could have 360 rotations. Ran into an issue when stringing rackets over 65 pounds. The string would slip out of the gripper, so modified my unit mount to have the string straight out of the racket to the gripper. Works much better, but lost 360 rotation.

Just another point on what Barry said about 360o rotation with the Wise head. I had discussed this with Herb and in addition to the issue with the angle of the string potentially allowing the string to slip out of the gripper, it will not pull tension to the correct level. The pull needs to be inline with the gripper inorder for the load cells in the unit to properly detect the correct tension. This is the way the unit is designed(straight pull from the frame to the tension head). The positive aspect of this is that there is no tension loss due to friction with the grommets.

This reminds me of when I ordered the revo. I tracked it online and it said its been delivered already, so I call UPS and they track it down and tell me its been delivered to a sporting good store  It came only a day late, but it was still kind of odd. I mean, my address is nothing like that store's.
