Play some itf futures qualifying and make the main draw and you will impress everyone.
Yeeesss! No excuses from TP, the results will speak for themselves.

Another idea: This year the Delray beach open will have a wildcard tournament, take part in that and get back to us. The level of play in the delray beach pre-quali is similar to ITF quali. You have people in the atp rank of 1000+ taking part. Let me tell you, a 1000 atp rank is no joke, they are very very high level players, like 5.5 to 6.0 level.

I have to side with OP or TP about the ex wife, come on a mother who doesn't work that sleeps in until 10 am and has her mom take care of the kid, there is nothing remotely normal about that, that's just being lazy, like when does the woman go to bed? Whichever parent is the stay at home parent or wants custody in a divorce, you don't just wake up whenever you want to after watching netflix all night lol. (remember, she has no job).

Wait. Are you saying it might take more than elite level athleticism to win the pre-qualies? Why are you being so negative? ;)

2 months for your last thread. 2 months for this thread. Still, you did manage to transform your forehand and backhand and massively regress your serve so I guess well done..?

About par for TTW I'd say.

My kid has allergies and woke up 4-6 times a night the from age 0-3.

Waking up early has been difficult. The mother also may have to nurse the kid. First couple years of a baby/toddler’s life the demands on the mother can be much greater than on the father.

Although I was have been fortunate to be able to work and spend a lot of time at home to help with raising my kid, undoubtedly, the demands on the mother are still greater.

Yea well, don't feel bad, my name should have been first. :D
Did you know that when you see the list of authors credited for a research publication, the grad student who did the grunt work is listed first, but the genius senior author is always listed last?

Reminds me of when Elon quits Twitter.

Credit to OP, who went away for 12 days. Elon usually comes back to Twitter in less than 3 days.

I want to play in such pre-qualifiers. How do I do that?

I want to play in such pre-qualifiers. How do I do that?

A first round loss isn't pretty.

Just about 5 years ago I was at a Florida tennis club which hosted an international tournament. Place was packed. I didn't know the event was taking place, I just walked into the club to find someone to hit balls with. As I normally do.

No place to sit because ALL tables were taken. Packed!

With no partner I still go to the counter. Ya never know. They tell me a court has just become available and the final matches for the day are taking place and ending. So, courts will become available. Clay, BTW.

So now I'm outside looking for someone to hit with. I see this guy, there's always a guy, he's by himself placing a racket in his bag.

"Hey pal, how are you, feel like hitting a few balls?" "I need a minute because I just finished my match."

Great!, I'll go in and pay for the court. 8 lousy bucks, nothing to loose there. (y)

On our way down we go. "Hey, this is the court I just had my match on."

"It was the only one available." "So, how did you do?" "I got my ass kicked." "Gee, sorry to hear this, what happened?"

"I just couldn't play my normal game, the guy was so good."

Now where hitting balls, the guy can't hit a ball. 3.0 3.5 at best. He came to the tournament from the Netherlands only to loose his first round match and he's a 3.0 or 3.5.

I have no idea what this cost him? Flight plus hotel plus rental plus food plus the tournament fee???

It was his vacation.

Why did this guy do this, is all I can think of.

There will be similar tournaments held at the end of this year for next years delray beach open. You can try playing if you are a 5.0 or higher, otherwise it's a waste of time and money.

Long term goal for me. I want to be competitive and be able to win at least a couple matches. Thank you.

I think I said this, but in a different way. I've played a good deal of tennis at the Delray Club. Years ago.

As that level now, I wouldn’t go to such lengths but I would compete out of my league to get some valuable experience on how they’re beating my game and also get to see and meet crazy talented players.

If your a 3.5 or a 4.0, These players will think you're crazy for not developing a better game before competing in a class well above yourself.

There's nothing to gain except a wasted day where you could use this time to practice.

The problem is, no one ever practices enough and they don't use good practicing methods.

AND, they love "skipping" important stuff.

I'm a broken record, saying the same things over and over.

I'm developing a better game now with a couple coaches, a trainer, some friends, playing in 3.5 tournaments and league, you guys, and Youtube (lol). Looking at the calendar, these events aren't for awhile. But even if I were to go to one tomorrow, I could definitely at least network and learn from better players (if just by watching).

You won't learn a thing.

When the smoke clears, or, at the end of the day, you'll still be the same person.

Just like watching ATP, when it's over your still the same person. You can't just turn off the TV then go play better tennis.

Some people just don't have the ability others have. That's the way it works. Do you realize this?

don't care if you think that even if it's true. I've never been to such an event. And I think it'd be fun to play in one. These are people probably crazier about tennis than me. **** yeah

You can have a good time playing a tournament, but like I said, when it's over you still have to hit the courts to train and practice.

I haven't played many tournaments, but one of them, I knocked out the top seed in the first round. Tee-hee-hee. :p :D  :alien:

If you don't mind me asking, what do you do for a living? Coach at a club, juniors, something else?

My background is a long story, you would be best to go back and read my Posts. Many of these Threads were removed.

However. I was involved with two clubs for well over 30 years. One was a Hoity Toity millionaires club, the other was a "normal" indoor 8 court facility. Both clubs had extensive junior programs and I worked with the best students only.

I also worked with many of the local and not so local college students. Many D-1 students.

Some of my students received full and partial-scholarships. I had one student who made it into the Virginia Slims.

At my best level, my early years, I played D-1 tennis. I was always a talented tennis player, started playing around 8 or 9 years old.

I did all of this part time. 10-20 hours per week, sometimes a bit more depending on my schedule.

I'm currently retired. Kinda.

So what was a lie? Are you trolling?

I think they are referencing that you said you played D1 (above in bold).

I'm looking for the (bold.)

I did play D-1, I also played beginner level, and Club Level, and 3.0, and on and on. I progresses over years.

And I must say, I put in the time, expense, and what I had to give up to get there.

Jake Speeeed, you tickle my mind. Maybe english is a third or second language. Just tell me to shhhhh if my assumptions are totally off, but you should understand if you say you play D-1 that means to most people reading it that you were involved in matches between 2 division 1 US universities and therefore were on the roster. If you played matches against division 1 players in practice or as a coach, that's a different phrasing that needs to be used.

"I played D1 tennis but wasn't on the team"

How does that work

Pick any phrasing you like.

What exactly are you really bothered by. Your ability to make incorrect assumptions?

I'm being accused of lying also, all one or anybody has to do is ask questions.

"I'm a doctor"

"actually I just took a class with the pre-med students"

Well, you are very interesting, I'm just trying to help you out and help you avoid being miss-understood. Were you an a college tennis team in division 1 as a student athlete and play any matches against other division 1 universities?
Nott hat it matters, but most tennis players that made it to division 1 college tennis didn't ever play usta level 3.0 on their way to that level.

"I played D1 tennis but wasn't on the team"

How does that work

That's the level I played at in my prime. I instructed and often played against D-1 players.

Not difficult to understand.

I also instructed and often played against players of lesser ability.

And I've hit balls with beginners.

Why am I being interrogated?
"I'm a doctor"

"actually I just took a class with the pre-med students"

What are you saying?

I never said I attended a D-1 university.

I just instructed players at that level.

JS

I can't say if your statement is true or not? I do know some D-1 students have had a USTA ranking.

None of this means anything to me, I just answered a guy's question.

Look at it like this, when you get a call from someone asking for a tennis lesson, when you get out there, it's like a box of chocolates,

You never know what you're going to get.
