My Pro Supex Reviews

lloyd, I never had that problem with the BG, in fact I usually liked it more after it loosened up a bit.

You and Wayne are correct: 1.28 BG has the most bite by far in my book. After my good luck with the CP/CF hybrid I think I'm going to try some full BA 1.17 again- it should be perfect in this heat. Man, it is so hot in SC this week. The humidity makes it like a sauna. I've been playing at 8 or 9 most days but can't get out tomorrow until 11...nasty
We've been in the 110+ for the last two weeks. By 8:00am it's above 90. But it's a dry heat.

Does anyone know of a string that will make my shots sound like Safin's when they come off the stringbed ;) Man, they sound a like a rifle shot...LOL

Well he is using a hybrid of Luxilon Big Banger Original and natural gut...:)

Unfortunately, Nick I don't have Safin's racquet head speed to go with the BBO and nat gut...LOL.

One more question, Nick is safin using gut mains or crosses. Just curious.

He is using BBO in the mains...he changes all the time for different surfaces...clay he uses full poly...sometimes babolat ballistic.

Anyone ever hybrid BA with CF? I'm using the CP/CF setup right now and loving it, but I've got a lot of BA on hand and think BA mains with CF crosses might work equally well. I'm thinking of using the BA 1.17 which is nice and flexy and would hopefully work well with the stiffer CF crosses. Playing full poly last week seemed to open up some areas of the court that were "closed off" when I used a hybrid ;)

which string did you feel have better feel of the two synthetics? the spiral flex or the titan. if possible could you tell me how these strings compare to gosen sheep? i usually hybrid big ace on the mains and sheep on the crosses. i like the way it feels but i would like to see how the pro supex strings compare

I've used both of the supex strings quite a bit as crosses. The spiral is a much "quicker" string-similar to PSGD. The ball comes off the strings quickly with the spiral. On the other hand, the titan is a good deal softer and offers more pocketing. It depends on what type of response you are looking for. The spiral is firmer but still good on feel and the titan gives better overall feel and touch.

I've not used the Gosen, but I will say that the titan is really really soft and works quite well with just about anything. I usually change my mains depending on the stick I use but the one constant for me in poly/syn gut hybrids is the titan cross. I used to play with the PDR and the APDC and used Big Ace mains alot with those sticks crossed with titan and it was a great setup. I've since moved to a Storm Tour and have gone to Cyberflash, cyberpower or alu mains and the Titan still works great with them.

Nick will be able to compare the titan with the Gosen as I think he's hit with about every string out there. Whenever I have a stringing or tension question, Nick is where I go :)

Hey nick, was just reading about your shop. Could I order some big ace from you? I live in PA. Just wondering.

I think the Titan has more "ball feel". Spiral Flex plays like PSGD if you have used that but with more power. Spiral Flex has a tad more power than Titan but I think thats because Titan feels like its holding the ball for longer. Gosen is a similar stiffness to Spiral Flex...maybe a little less stiff. Gosen has a crisper feel compared to titan and offers more spin. The Gosen has more feel than Spiral flex but less compared to titan. All 3 hold tension well. I personally think spin is better with Gosen.

In in the UK....but not really selling string at the moment..not much profit in it!

Nick :)

Sigh... I was hoping to get about a set of a couple polys to try out considering the local stores don't sell it, TW doesn't sell it, and the online stores I trust don't sell it...

One question:

Does anyone think that Pro Supex Big Ace 17 gauge gets loose quick?

I mean about almost 2 weeks, and the strings are already moving

im cutting mines today :[

Can someone recommend string tension for BA mains and Titan cross?
I currently use a RDS001 Mid with Maxim Touch at 65lbs.
Play style is grinding baseliner with a lot of top spin.
