1970s (junior high and high school)
1. A $5 pre-strung supermarket racket painted to look like a Dunlop Maxply (standard size, wood)
2. Spalding Match Play, about $15, beautiful cosmetics but a pre-strung drugstore purchase and heavy as hell (standard size, wood)
3. Bancroft Borg Personal: My first real racket (standard size, wood)
4. Donnay Fiberwood: Like Borg's Donnay but with a ply of fiberglass, and red-purple stripes instead of yellow-orange (standard size, wood with fiberglass)
5. Donnay Allwood: Like Borg, I used this off and on with the Bancroft (standard size, wood)
6. Garcia Pro 240: The official racket of Harold Solomon (standard size, wood)
1980s (college and beyond)
7. Rossignol Strato: I believe it was the same racket as the Garcia -- used by Solomon and Jose-Luis Clerc (standard size, wood)
8. Dunlop Maxply (standard size, wood)
9. Donnay Fibre Pro: An update of the Fiberwood (standard size, wood with fiberglass)
10. Prince Woodie: My first oversize racket (oversize, wood with graphite)
11. Yamaha YFG-45: A midsize of sorts (narrow but long head) and my first composite racket (midsize, composite)
12. Yamaha Ceramic Bronze 90 (midsize, composite)
1990s
13. Spalding Ellyp-Tech (oversize, composite)
14. Wilson Hammer 4.0: My first wide-body (midsize, composite)
15. Yonex Super RQ 500 Long: My first extra-long (midsize-plus, long, composite)
2000s
16. Yonex Super RQ 1000 Long: The Monica Seles racket -- I stopped using it only because I couldn't find any more (super-oversize, long, composite)
17. Head Liquidmetal 2: This was a short, unhappy experiment that ended with tennis elbow (midsize, long, composite)
18. Prince O3 (oversize, long, composite)
19. Prince Air Vanquish OS: I was on vacation without my rackets and had to borrow one when I hired a pro for a hit. I didn't like the graphics at first, but I sure did hit well. A few weeks later it dawned on me that this frame was much better for me than the O3, and it sure was cheaper. It got even cheaper when it was discontinued, and so I stocked up. I hope seven is enough, because I never want to switch. The weight and balance are perfect for my spin-heavy game. The graphics have even grown on me. (oversize, composite)
