Well, MRI revealed that Ive had "the majority" of one of my ligaments in my ankle torn, so that expalins why its been painful and slow to heal. They said I dont need surgery, so that was good news, but that it could take 6+ months to heal and feel better.

Just within the last couple weeks, Ive finally been able to play and move close to 100%, with some discomfort, and without it getting really sore or worse the next day. So I think I will be alright, so very happy about that! It has just been a matter of getting my game back, which had been frustrating, but again just recently I have been starting to get close to good form again. I have a bit over a month before I will start playing tournaments again, so I should be in great shape and hopefully playing really well by then.

I recommend ART (active release technique) physical therapy. It's basically
some joint manipulation with super deep massage to break up scar tissue.
I had a bad ankle injury from basketball (landed on someone's foot and rolled
my ankle all the way until the outer ankle bone bounced off the court)

I let it heal very slowly until it just seamed to stagnate or heal too slowly for
me. Within a few sessions, it felt almost 100% and I was able to be
pain free. The sessions can be somewhat intense but worked wonders for
me. I went back to the same guy when I had a lower back injury also
(from squats). Same result.

I have followed your Youtube channel, please keep on uploading your play. They are good references.
I love court level camera angles. Thank you very much.

if that is 5.5, there must be many 5.5 out there

i am not too familiar with that self assess system.
i thought 5.5 are very powerful and great players.

I know this is a 5 year old thread, but I read this just after watching some of the latest vids and laughed quite a bit.

Good luck with the ankle, that is a real bummer.

is this gonna be video recorded?
Oh yeah. I can't guarantee the quality, but at least some of it will be recorded. Will presumably get a call from Dennis some time tomorrow. Will trade slices with Dennis at my home court in Fort Lauderdale, and will subsequently edit and post to TT, while Dennis & company enjoy some matches at the Sony Open on Key Biscayne.

Wow! Sorry to hear about the bad MRI but glad to learn you are already moving at or near 100%. Take good care of it and don't get over-eager. It's very easy to re-injure it, even at your (youthful!) age!!!! :) ;) Best, BHBH

Ditto!

It would be awesome if TW would sponsor you to play futures
in exchange for your blogging like they've done with a
couple other players. You've certainly been a really
positive contributor to the boards in both your
conduct and also your sharing of your journey towards
improving your tennis. Pretty sure you'd be able do
some damage in the tournaments.

That's a good idea. If Tonlars is interested, we should make that a thread topic somewhere and get people to post in support.

We could invite our non TT friends to check out the blog, then they would buy copious amounts of goods from TW.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your encouragement! Im planning to play prize money open events, and if possible a futures tournament or 2, but I dont usually do those due to the cost factor with them being further away, drawn out longer and paying out much less. I would love to do it as much as possible however. I see a thread was made about this so Ill write in there, really nice of you guys so thank you

Here's the thread I made to show your support for a TW sponsorship:

id vote for it, but im not sure what TW would get out of it since we are already on their website.

Ttw sponsor tonlars! My vote is yes!
I promise to buy all tennis stuff from tw.

Hey Tony!
What is up with you now, are you any closer to that atp point, or are you moving further away from getting it?

I know you were very very close in 2012! Anyway wishing you the best with it!

Nice vid Duy, thanks for sharing! My arm is feeling even better now and so I don't have to slice backhands quite so much. Pretty much back to normal. See you out at the Winnipeg futures in August!

Nice to hear you're playing a future's event! Keep us updated.

Huge 1st round match tomorrow for Tony. Been following his progress for a while now.

It is probably his best chance ever of getting a point. He is playing a 19 yo wildcard who has never had an ATP point.

The scores can be followed live on the ITF website, not sure about streaming.

Best of luck Tony!

Tony retires 3-0 down in the third set.
Hard luck Tony! :)
I know you are probably very disappointed but could we get a post from you and your thoughts on the match?

Even though you haven't got the point yet, your journey has inspired me a great deal! Keep on grinding!
