My Wilson K-90 Review

Hey guys this is my very first review so please do not flame me.

Well today i bought a new Ksix-one tour 90 today and played with my friends. The K90 was absolutely amazing, no more like god-like! I have never had soo much control in my life.

Forehand/Backhand: Very good topspin when i hit with the K90. To back it up i lent it to my friend who made more topspin then ever before. The [K]ontrol was absolutely amazing. But the bad thing about this is that the K90 had low power.

I have not tried properly serving and volleying so i will add it to this review later.

Well im sure many of you who are thinking..... Is the headsize big enough?
Am i good enough cuz it says rating - 5.0+? Cuz you do not need to worry about those in my opinion. To be honest i am only 4.0-4.5 but i was perfectly able to use the K90. Also i went from 105sqinch to 90sqinch in headsize but i had no deficulty. But YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE GOOD HAND COORDINATION

So to sum it up the K90 is an god-like racket with unbelievable control as i mentioned couple times above ^^

glad to see u enjoy the racquet. who needs power when u have the ability to make the person run around like crazy? to me there is a big difference between speed and power. have a fast controlled hit and u won't need power anymore.

yer and its really easy to do topspins with the racket. So control+topspind is better then just power

I've been playing the the nCode Tour 90 for 2 years now and demoed the K-Factor last week. I was NOT impressed. It feels almost identical to the nCode 90 with just a bit more spin. Something just did not feel right with the racquet but I can't put my finger on it. I just couldn't hit groundstrokes as consistently with it as compared to the nCode. Volleys were great, though.

All in all, not enough of a difference to warrant changing racquets and certainly not for $200.

no the ncode tour 90 is way different to the K90. The k90 has way more control then the n90. Also it feels different when u hit the ball. Ur thinking negative mate, look on the bright side of this good racket.

A word of advice, KoT-- Never say, "no, it is..." because rackets as so personal that you can't just say "no" for another person. Anyway, IF I had enough time to prepare for my shots with the K90, it was pretty deadly. If I had to run and stretch, I could only get a weak slice/ or topspin shot with about 8 feet or more clearance over the net. If it landed at my feet and I had to take it super super early, I was pretty much dead.

I think there is some truth to this idea.......the K90 is definitely NOT inherently powerful, though if you have good technique you can generate loads of pace. It's reall forte is control. And solidity. And stability.

Like I've said before, lots of different frames out there aimed to suit the myriad of body types, swing paths, playing styles, and skill levels that populate all levels of the game.

So, please. Demo. It's fun to demo. It is NOT fun to spend $200 on a paper weight.

Exactly, that is why it has a fast swing speed rating. To use a racquet like that, to get juice out of it, you need to be a certain style of player. When people like myself and CC talk about the Ncodes or Ks having a lot of power, that is only true IF YOU CAN GET IT MOVING. It takes a certain type. I am 24 years old, I am 6'3" I have long arms, and since I was a young kid, I have always had terrific bat speed. I also have very long strokes. If I was a smaller person, or had more compact strokes, or more moderate batspeed, I would not use this racquet. If I am seeing the ball well, and hitting well, and on offence, I can hit with the 90 better than anything on the planet. If I am tired and can't see well or am scrambling on defense, and can't put a good swing on the ball, well it isn't gonna bail me out. It depends on what you are trying to accomplish.

well to me, there is a major difference from teh n90 and the k90. the k90 had a slightly larger sweet spot and was by far, the most forgiving racqet of the 2.

Ya, I got a prototype from wilson in october, and hit it, it is different, but it is very similar compared to the other 6 billion racquets made. A prestiege mid is different too, as would be a tour 10 mid, but the same types of players would swing them. I would never tell someone that an N90 is too much bat for them, maybe they would be better off with a K90.

Agree! Especially for serving and volley. For serving, when I hit at the upper portion of racket head, KSix-One Tour 90 offers much more control (even my string is at low 50's lbs now) and power. Also for some reasons, even though KSix-One Tour 90 is a bit heavier than nSix-One Tour 90, its mobility is much higher than nSix-One Tour 90. Very good at net. I very enjoy the stability and punch at net with it.

i just tried the k90 & k95 demos today. I've played wilson mid+ for 25 years.

The k90 was just sick (good!!!!!) for serve and volley. I had fun with it even though for my 4.5ish old school game I was "supposed" to like the k95 better.

It was sooo manueverable for me at the net I was grinning every time. Don't be fooled into trying shots you are not set up for but a little wrist flick was ok. The stroke weight won points outright and better spin and consistency with less weighty feel. In fact it didn't have as much serious plow as the n90. Get something, lose something It felt lighter.

The k95 was not as solid in comparison but the net clearance and spin was exceptional. The ball did not fly at times like the previous n95. Big improvement. If you timed the k95 just right it was a killer otherwise the ball sat up a bit. Lead tape and a leather grip would probably change that.

I'll tweak the k95 a bit and try the k95 18x20 as well but the k90 is sweet.
I agree with nobadmojo, it does not inherently have the crazy spin and power of a PD for a huge game but I am still grinning

I'm sorry, but this makes me laugh. Trust me when I say I wasn't thinking positive or negative about this racquet when I went to demo it. I was actually looking forward to it as on paper the K-Factor addressed some chief complaints that were made about the nCode. In practice, though, it felt more clumsy through the air, had the same muted feel as the nCode but the added spin made it a more unpredictable than with the nCode.

I'm sure the K-Factor would feel better the more I played with it and distanced it from the play I'm accustomed to with the nCode Tour 90, but again, for $200, it's not worth my time or money based on its first impression.

This racquet has so much power if you use lower string tension and put some lead tape on the tip of the hoop (at 12 o'clock). It won't lack control if you use your flexible wrist more and racquet head speed (you whip the racquet fast right when you hit the ball up to the follow through)
