One BH down the line away and Djokovic's peak would become a myth.

You could say the same about Djokosmash in RG. Break in the 5th set, 1 game away. Similar scenarios. Well, with one small difference... Djokovic beat Nadal twice on the PC. Nadal never beat Djokovic on the RLA. Based on this, can we say for sure Nadal was winning this match if hed won that 4-2 point?

Great video, OP. On one hand I always thought AO 2022 was a hold-up but at the same time I feel like he should have more than one AO. This match against Verdasco was more entertaining than any of his RG wins for me...

The big difference is Nadal has 14 RG and Novak 10 AO.

Besides, while Novak did beat Rafa twice at the FO, he beat him first in his 7th attempt, while Rafa only faced Novak twice at the AO. If we were to judge Novak by his first 2 matches against Rafa at the FO he would also be with 0 wins.

Nole is Rafa's biggest competitor at RG, Rafa is not even Nole's 2nd or 3rd or 4th at AO, huge difference.

Organizer put Nole-Rafa on the same side 10+ times at RG, only once at AO, go figure.

Nadal has won 4 French Opens without dropping a set (2008, 2010, 2017, 2020). Djokovic has never won the Australian Open without dropping a set.

The Us open wins show enough for me especially on hard court.

Also it was a 1 handed backhand away and also he had break points in the 5th set decider at Wimbledon 2018 AND Roofgate.

Nadal beat Djoker 4 times in straight sets in slams.

Djoker only beat him once in straight sets in slams.

Nadal has a tendency to beat Djoker easier at slams than VICE VERSA.

While this thread should really be about celebrating Nadal, and not yet another Djokodal headbutting contest, this statement is incorrect. Djokovic has straight setted Nadal twice, and on two different surfaces. RG 2015 and AO 2019. Nadal's straight sets all came at RG.

I feel that the AO generally gave us the best matches. Maybe because it's the first Slam and players are motivated to start the season well.
They call it "the fun slam" for a reason. Players are fresh coming off of holidays and a new year with a fresh mindset so we see better tennis as a result, plus Melbourne seems like a fun town players generally seem to be in a better mood in Australia.

Anyway, Nadal always brought some level of epic to his matches. He'll be greatly missed.

Yes, this is very important, as winning a Grand Slam title without dropping a set is worth more than winning one with losing 1, 2 or 5 sets.

It'd be fair to say winning a Grand Slam title without dropping a set is worth 1,5 points, therefore Nadal has won 24 slams.
