Nadal 'bending rules again'

Rookie
Shanghai Masters v Mayer
Saves set point and takes 38 seconds between points.
Umpire prompts him but does little else.
Commentator quotes 'Nadal bending rules again and getting away with it once more'
Unsportmanlike behavior.

He's not the only one who does this. And don't worry. He won't be around much longer for his time wasting to bother people so badly.

Rules are not made of rubber. They are linear. He is breaking the rules and we are all accepting it.

Here's an idea, why not make a separate thread and we can post there anytime a player breaks the time to serve rule. That way everybody's satisfied.

Yeah like Rome Masters final in 05' or 06'.
When he beat Federer in five , however he needed Uncle Toni to help him out with illegal tacticts..
I guess nothing changes

Ohh, the Rafa tactics! but if you criticize him, you are a hater! he is humble! he is a very good person! blabla

The problem is not Nadal (or other players) taking 50 seconds between points.
The problem is the umpire who doesn't apply the rule and let the player do !

TENNIS ENTHUSIASTS: Instead of getting annoyed with time between points, simply record matches and use the fast forward button after each rally.

Take a look at @twoptwips for more like this.

Pathetic display by Nadal for breaking the rules once more. He had to take the time because even playing his best Mayer was beating him to a pulp. But this is typical Nadal. Nadal only did well in 2010 because the whole field was playing terribly during this time of the year. Now they've caught up to him.

Why is there another thread like this? We all know that Nadal and others break the rule a lot, but what are we going to do. We can't go up to the umpires and tourney directors, and tell them what to do. All of us (as far as I know) don't have any power in the ATP, so unless you can really do something what is the use of complaining.

So if others cheat, Nadal should cheat too? Is that what you're implying?

Justice prevails today :)

It just shows you how Rafa and other time wasters do not deserve to be labelled as great champions. Their victories are marred by violation of rules. It's ridiculous that people call them the greatest players ever.

this is only to underline his inferiority on the day:-)

the time between points rule reminds me alot of the false throw-in in football. just a rule that everyone is aware of but still no one cares about since the judges stopped calling it at some point and now it would just seem silly to restart since youd practically have to let them repeat every single one.
or the rules for people running into the penalty area before the shot has been made. everyone does that all the time. and the 2 times a year when a referee actually applies the rule it just turns into a comedy festival and the penalty has to be replayed 12 times or something oO

but i agree. if theyre not going to apply these rules then they might just as well scratch them. cause like this its just a joke

You can't call a guy who has to make every match he wins a war the greatest.

Roger would literally roll through 95% of his opponents for several years straight.

This guy running balls down and going to deuce every single one of his service games is in no way the greatest.

He took exactly 55 seconds after he leveled in first set tie-breaker at 5-5. Almost 3 times as long as it's allowed.

The more Nadal loses, the worse his antics will start to look.

Yeah, not only the time wasting, I was laughing when he disputed Mayer's serve that was in and he complained to Carlos Bernardes that the ball was out this "mucho"....

It's actually only slightly more than 2 times. He'd have to go another 20 seconds to make it 3 times.

Another frail attempt at a backsided smearing against Rafa, you can smell it from the service line. Who is he hurting here really? We the Nadal fans view it as an exemplary display of his determination, that a player should do everything in his power over in time in the heat of battle to win at all cost. If that's not enough to convince the populace of Rafa's epic warriorness, the you might as well skip the tournament, stay home and take care of your sexyclasseagle babies.

So according to your rules Mayer 2.0 is superior to prime Nadal? :)

All Im going to say is that I saw several times today where Rafa violated the time between points rule and it was clearly because he was downright exhausted from the previous point. He was breathing very heavy and you could tell he was trying to take every extra second he could to recover. It had little to nothing to do with being "routine" behavior between points.

He never had an era to begin with.
He shared an era with Federer. Nadal has 10 slams to Federer's 16, and was the only player on tour to successfully challenge Roger. What were the other players like Djoker and Murray doing at that time?

Add to that the clay supremacy and one of the most contested rivalries in the story of tennis, all time (to this day) Masters titles record, etc.

But I understand why haters like you are so bitter and can't wait to debase Nadal at any chance you get. It's expected of you.

Djoker stole Rafa's mojo and infected Rafa with the problems he used to have. I think the egg chamber might be a time machine of some kind.

Negative people are usually projecting. I feel bad for them, obviously they have issues. It's tennis. I just like watching great players play.

Exactly. I enjoy watching Djoker play too, especially this year (even though I support Rafa.)
You won't see me sign in as NadalForTheWin and then write over 2000 posts of pure garbage putting down Djokovic or Federer.

I don't know what people like DFTW are projecting, but it's disgusting.

Hes going were Borg went. An early retirement. Biggest cheater I have ever seen.

Actually, go watch Nastase or Tiriac or even Jimmy Connors. You will know what real cheaters are like.

And Joker is just as big a cheater as Nadal - takes the same amount of time between serves, gets illegal coaching etc.

Wut?

HAHAHAHAHA

Wait no, that wasn't Djoker 2.0 and doesn't count, no?

All this obsessing over the pros is creepy, people. This my-favorite-jerk-is-better-than-your-favorite-jerk stuff just makes the forum look like it is mostly comprised of children. Enough already.

So Nadal takes too much time. Is it really worth foaming at the mouth over? Djokovic acts like a ***** when matches aren't going his way, Federer makes snarky comments, Murray breaks racquets, etc, etc, etc.

Is it necessary to behave as badly as the pros to be a true fan. If so, then I'll pass.

Of course, of course. But if Djoker beats him before the year end it will show that Djoker 2.0 is superior. We've heard it all from your mouth over 2000 times.

Djoker 2.0 is superior not because of any one win. He has thoroughly dominated Nadal all season. You ****s can't hide behind excuses of mental block or Nadal's inability to hit deep etc etc, forever. At some point, the brightest among you will acknowledge the superiority of Djoker.

You forgot to append the version number there. It should be Djoker 2.0.

And Djoker only won USO thanks to Roger's incredible failure to convert his match points, remember that. Old man Roger almost pwned Djoker like he did in RG.

Will you two be inviting us all to your wedding?:)

LOL, yeah sure he got lucky against Roger, no doubt about that. But Nadal was then thoroughly quashed even against an exhausted Djoker who barely got by old man Fed.
