This is what I hope to see.... Nadal hitting his shots ON the baseline and moving Djokovic around.

He needs that FH to work today.

This is much harder to do in current conditions. That 2013 semifinal was played on a very hot day, and the bounce was very high. That was real clay. On the other hand, this year Djokovic's hardcourt tennis works better than Nadal's topspin. What a joke. There is a reason why I call it red hardcourt.

The closer we get to this match the more it's feeling like Australia 2019 for me.

All the signs were there for the challenger to upset the favorite. Then the match started and you instantly remembered why the favorite is the all-time leader at that court.
Oh, please. It looks nothing close to AO 2019. Then Djokovic played his absolute best in the 1/4 final and semifinal. The likes of @Yugram will always hype Nadal, no matter what. But for me it was clear that Djokovic will win this match easy.

On the other hand, in this tournament Nadal looks extremely vulnerable. He didn't convince me he has the game to beat Djokovic, and for sure not the mentality. I'm pretty sure he already lost the match in his head.

I’d thought about one of them winning in staights. Neither had played at their best in the tournament, so there was a chance that somebody upped the ante and cut out the 5-set rollercoaster - and I thought that was the only way Rafa could win. But I wasn’t expecting that. Especially the confidence. Rafa has failed to serve out a few times over the last 18 months or so, I thought he’d mess up that last game. I think he must have heard you @MichaelNadal !

I’m happier with how he played than any numbers that result from it.

Looks like some Nadal fans are in fact handwringers. LOL.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure Nadal has this barring a disaster. Clay is Nadal's playground. Always has been and will be until he officially retires. Upon which time his records will likely stand for eternity.

I won't get into the x's and o's of the matchup, I just think if both guys play their A game Nadal wins in 4 or less. Djoker is dangerous obviously, but I can't escape the idea that he's a hard courter at heart playing a HC style at RG. Nadal is a clay genius on the other hand.

It's hard to be humble. ;) I'm only disappointed I never picked Rafa in 3.

Just watched the highlights. I really can't believe what happened. I don't remember any other match where Nadal had an answer to everything Djokovic tried to do. Would be a perfect performance if there was no typical choke in the middle of the third set.

I hope we will now hear less hype of their 2015 match. As we saw it's much more difficult when Nadal actually hits more than 3 forehand winners.

I can't believe his level today man, it was unreal. He was eating Djokovic's drop shots up, and pulling him side to side at will

Everything worked today :D

I had a group of people around to watch the final, and the timezone means it finished super late in Australia, so i missed all the fun of the match threads here!

Im still in a state of shock and elation about how it turned out.

This is one of the most special matches ever for me, mainly because i had so much doubt.

Everything was set up against Rafa, and to turn it all around in such a dominant, crazy way.....

Just saw this comment on youtube on one of the highlight videos:

"This match is ridiculous. The match lasted 2hr 40 min. It takes Djokovic 54 min to get his first game and 1hr 28 min to get his second game. So he spent 34% of the time of the match with no game and 53% (more than half) of the match with only 1 game."
