If Thiem win both USO and Rome.

Now Thiem has 7135 points and he has to defend 20 points in total at both USO and Rome. If Thiem win USO final and Rome, he will have 10115 pts and become Seed 2 at RG.

In this scenario, the chance of Thiem at RG will be higher than Djokodal?

It's mathematically possible, as is Thiem staying hot and winning YE#1.

Side Point:. I've never liked 1 v 3 and 2 v 4, but apparently - from other discussions - I'm in the minority viewpoint there.

Thiem and Zverev pulling out of Rome I believe, so this is not possible.
I've been lazy in looking at the schedule, and didn't realize the main draw of Rome starts just a day or two after the USO final, with RG the next week. Is Novak definitely playing Rome?

If Djokodal tire each other out and then have to play Thiem in a final, it will be interesting to see what the outcome will be. In the three Slam finals that Thiem has lost, he had to beat one of them earlier and then play the other in the final.

Yes he is. He in the draw.
Hopefully, his head will be clear - if not for Rome, than for RG.
Pandemic scheduling is nuts:
M1000 (Cincy, er NY) followed right away by...
US Open, followed right away by...
M1000 Rome, followed (closely) by...
French Open

Wrong. Thiem had to beat Marco Checchinato before meeting Nadal in RG 2018 Final.

Hectic schedule yes, and now proven to be impossible for anyone to navigate fully through.

Doesn't Novak already have 10,800 points?
