Nadal & Coria on TTC Tonight

The Tennis Channel is broadcasting the Rome Masters Final between Nadal & Coria tonight. If you haven't seen this match, then do yourself a favor and watch. It is easily one the best matches of the year and one of the best finals. Coria should have won but Nadal got lucky. I think this loss screwed up Coria's head for the rest of the year.

The Tennis Channel is not very available, I live in NY and its not carried. Too bad. I wonder if they can broadcast it streaming over the internet, and people can pay them directly to subscribe. They'd need a few good servers and they're in business.

If you live in Manhattan and have TWC, it's available on channel 455. I think it's 4.95 for the sports package.

Actually, the programming can be pretty spotty. Tons of repeat programming, chopped up instructional videos, and rather lame panel shows. Still, if you're a tennis junkie, it's probably worth it. I really wish they'd buy air rights to classic matches and broadcast them, say, once a week or so.

Remember watching that final and actually had 14 family members in the room during that final set. Could not believe two guys could play at that high a level so long and never saw a match like it. Grandkids were so pumped they immediately wanted to go to a court after that match. Crowd was so into the match. On any given Sunday, eh?

Wow I forgot how great this match was. Coria fighting to get up a double break in the last set only to have Nadal break him back twice. One of the best matches of the year.

TTC seems to be showing 2005 highlight matches recently. They had Federer/Gasquet the other night. The only problem is they have the rights to a British broadcast so were stuck with their not-so-knowledgeble commentators. The elderly Englishman made this comment about Nadal: "If someone tried his forehand 15 years ago, they would have broken their wrist. He makes it possible by using today's lightweight racquets that weigh 8-10 oz."

TTC is doing classic matches everyday for a week or so I think. Yeah, there have been some good ones. so far, fed/gasquet, roddick/verdasco, coria/nadal. great stuff. there's a bunch of garbage around prime time, but lots of classics and even intruction, though i'm never home to watch it.
