Someone should find the original interview. This was a few days ago and I think in Spanish. And I think he was talking about changes to the balls in all of tennis and over the years.
It was his post-R2-match press conference in Spanish (from 8:00 in the video):

So the relevant question starts at around 12:20

Nadal is responding to a question where he is asked about comments by Pablo Andújar on how balls have changed in all of tennis. So this is not about the AO or just about this year. He explicitly states he’s not complaining as he has done very well with the balls used but thinks they reduce the types of tennis played

I think the humidity this year is having an effect on the playing characteristics of the bells. Australia has had a lot of rain recently, temperatures are cooler but humidity is right up there.

Rafa would have loved the playing AO conditions in the 90’s. Finals were always daytime, in extreme heat.

People who don’t like playing daytime in hotter climate would surely lose.

This seems a bit spoilt brat syndrome. He has benefitted for many years eith balls he likes. Now playing conditions favour flatter hitters. What goes around comes around.
I expect Nadal to lose quite convincingly to Khachanov. Medvedev is a virtual lock for the event and would have been even if Djokovic was there.
Dunno Khach is such a choker. And for all of Nadal's whining people who do well hit with quite a lot of spin

Very interesting explanation that is above the head of most here.

Not really, it's quite easy to understand what he's getting at here. That doesn't mean one has to agree with him whoever, not everybody wants every major tourney to have slow and high bouncing conditions.

No, Rafa bashers are angry.

There are 3 players at 20-20-20, At the moment Nadal is the only player who can reach the sacred 21 at the AO.

Since the bashers' players can't stop him on court, the bashers try to make Rafa seem less with sneers and exaggerations to make themselves feel better. Childish behavior.

Wasnt he crying about the change to Wilson balls before the 2020 French Open? Yeah, they really ruined his chances there.
