Just be more factual when reply to me, please, and we can have a nice tennis discussion... ;)

See the post below ;)

Semantics/terminology plays a great role in analyzing any sport. Skew seems a derogatory word, the appropriate term should be DOMINANCE

Rafa's numbers denote his undisputed, unparalleled SUPERIORITY against fellow ATGs and the field in a specific context and it should be celebrated, not denigrated.

RAFA is the KING. EMPEROR, GOD of clay.

And with just one surface he has the overall numbers in slams, masters too. What's not to like?

It's not your post, and this post contain no facts... Just certain posters' opinion... And that opinion has nothing to do with the topic... That's exactly the problem in tennis communication with you...
And now I got exhausted... See you soon...

Words on a screen can be too much sometimes :p im sure me, you and Beard could watch Djokodal matches with wings and cocktails and have an amazing day 8-B

Honestly, I think the majority of TTW would have a blast if we all met for a hangout one night. When looking past it all, we all love interracting with each other, even if it is from a different point of view. You and I already know that with so many things in common outside of tennis, you and I are like brothers anyway, but I think so many of us would have a totally rad time laughing, joking, drinking, eating, watching matches and arm wrestling. LOL

I don't think many here would refuse such a thing if given the option. I certainly wouldn't mind.

Couldn't agree more. It's easy to forget especially in these stupid big 3 discussions that we are all really here for the same reasons and are very much alike (y) if we were all in the same place for a couple nights it would be the coolest thing ever lol. We would have to make them watch some wrestling or DB though ;)

We'll just double clothesline anyone who doesn't want to watch. LOL

To add to what you are saying, the environment on TTW is not the same as it is outside of here when discussing tennis, I kind of see it like a cousin of Road Rage, you just behave a little too extreme even when it is not really in your nature to do so. This is why taking breaks from here is a good thing, I just get a temp ban put on sometimes now to get a break from here, helps. :D

Nadal not good enough to get to Federer at the USO when Fed was great there, Fed not good enough to get to Nadal at the USO when Nadal was great there. Australian open H2H 3-1 Nadal :D

You need to separate the AO editions by court speed.

Besides, Fed was not supposed to win in 2012 and 2014 LOL, it's hilarious you even consider those matches an even playing field. Especially 2014.

Grass and indoor hard courts: Federer dominated.
Clay and outdoor hard courts: Nadal dominated.

Unfortunately for Federer, grass and indoor hard courts have very very few tournaments. He wasn't in control outside of grass and indoor hard courts. Nadal dominated the majority of their hard court and clay matches.

Federer finally did find some answers and dominated the hard court meetings in 2017. Even his hardcore fans didn't see that coming.
Not all outdoor HC are the same. Fedal only played one GS match on a faster outdoor HC.

And Nadal dominated outdoor HC because of 2013-early 2014.

You don't remember Fed was on a winning streak headed into the 2012 match and said he was confident he'd beat Rafa? :D I do lol

So what? It was not the type of surface Fed had a chance to beat Nadal on. The court was slow AF LOL. And Fed was also 30,5 years old.

Sorry if you can't differentiate between slow HC and faster HC. (y)

And regarding age, how did Nadal do at the same age against a 5 year older opponent?

Fed was not playing bad at AO 2012 lol stop. Literally no one was stopping that Nadal but peak Djokovic and it took him over 5 hours to barely do it.

I didn't say he was playing bad. I said that the surface was way too slow for him to get the job done at the age he was at.

That's why I differentiate between different types of outdoor HC. AO 2012 surface was not a surface where Fed would have been favorite to beat Nadal on LOL.

If Federer leading Nadal 3-1 at Wimbledon is dominating, then we must accept that Nadal dominated Federer at the Australian Open. Unless we were to display double standard logic.

No clay skew. Federer and Nadal Slam meetings: 58% of their matches occured outside clay. Since Federer has a better resume than Nadal outside clay, this is a bit surprising. Federer could have led the H2H over Nadal in Slams, as most of their meetings occured outside clay.

for Nadal haters it's not

Shhhh we aren't allowed to talk about clay on TTW bc Nadal is too good :p

Fair enough :) whatcha eating today?

Even being a "Maestronian" myself, as a big Harry Potter fan (and huge Harmione shipper) I had to smile at mentioning these two. And yeah, sometimes it’s quite true as well I admit. But of course other fanbases aren’t different.
Yes. This is one where I would have preferred a (significant) deviation from the Canon. Radcliffe and Watson had so much chemistry.

Indeed they have! However, the actors and the movies are not the main reason of course. It is how the characters in the books are presented as single persons and how they interact that makes them perfectly compatible. It only wasn’t allowed to be called "romantic" (even though it actually is IMO) because the author had other plans.

JK Rowling once admitted that she created the Hermione/Ron relationship only for personal reasons after a crush she had in her youth on a Ron-type guy. This ending was actually set in stone before she began her whole story (and therefore before her muse created the whole Harry/Hermione interaction). Later in her life, after the final book was released, she more and more realized that this isn’t a healthy relationship and that Harry/Hermione would have been preferable. That’s why she allowed all those beautiful moments between them in the later movies. But of course it was too late to change the end.

Unfortunately it’s all a business, so an author won’t outright destroy her canon couples later on, because if general doubts about the sense of the whole story will rise, less people would buy the books. However, she already said more than one could hope for. I don’t know any other author who only partly demolished such an important part of a story.

The only matches in their rivalry that I regret are the 2012 and 2009 AO matches. Those are the ones Fed shouldn't have let slip away.

Fed was good enough in 2013 but he chose to lose to Robredo instead of Rafa
Genius analysis as usual, from someone who never watched one Federer match in 2013 (or probably ever).

Fed won *one* tournament in 2013, was seriously injured throughout the entire year and dropped 5 spots in the ranking from January to December, from 2 to 7. It's universally regarded as his worst year on tour when he actually played multiple events.

If you're capable of self-education, read what Wikipedia says about Fed's 2013 season:

"The 2013 season saw Federer suffer a considerable decline in form, dropping five places to number 7 in the world, his lowest ranking in 11 years, and seeing his run of 36 consecutive grand slam quarterfinals ended by a second round defeat at Wimbledon. This year also marked the first time since 2002 where Federer did not reach a major final. His only title win of the season was a victory at the Gerry Weber Open in Halle, an ATP 250 event.

The decline in form can be largely attributed to the severe back injuries Federer suffered for much of the season, hampering his play from March through October. He first injured his back in the early rounds of Indian Wells and then re-injured it in the quarterfinals of Hamburg."

I watched all of his matches at USO13 he played very well up until he was expected to meet Rafa in QF...round 2 and 3 he lost only 11 games COMBINED. All he had to do is beat a guy he never lost to before nor since that match...and he would play Rafa at the Arthur Ashe Stadium. Would Fed rather lose to Robredo or Rafa at US Open?

Why 2012 AO? That surface was slow as molasses and clearly more catered towards Nadal than Federer. There are other matches I choose over this one.

Because 2012 is your match which Fed somehow managed to choke in 4 set only, breaking first in all first three set and still lost two

It wasn't a surface that favored Fed at all, so he had no business winning this match anyway at the age he was in.

We have two players tied on 20 Majors at top of the pile. They are considered the greatest two players of all time by some distance.
Basically Federer a better fast and fast medium player. Nadal a better slow and slow medium player.
That is why they are co GOATS. Both are the best ever in certain conditions.
It is why the h2h rivalry is a bit overrated. Yes occasionally they could get a win against the head but generally if both at their best or close to it the result was a foregone conclusion depending what conditions were.

Likewise my friend, which is why I know when the mask slips :p And sure, one of us is being pretty personal, keep it off, I like the real Hitman, I got excited when I saw him :D
Dude you have to remember certain posters here are soft and quite woke so will take things personally even when all you are doing is stating facts. The type of people who say a lot online but would back down in person, which is common with the young generation. We live in a soft woke world where people get offended very easily.
Certain posters claim to be objective and fair yet for example when Rafa wins a Major like FO indoors or USO they disappear for months almost as if Rafa has offended then personally rather than man up and say well done Rafa on a message board.
You are the most easy going light hearted poster i have seen here so the suggestion you get personal is absurd gibberish.
It is like the argument peddled by fans of Djokovic that 20-20-18 is trolling and a personal insult. I mean by that logic Wikipedia is the ultimate troll bully site.

It's a HC slam, and Federer was still in his prime. He was in control of the match, and played badly on a few important points. These two matches are really the only reason that Nadal can be placed higher than Federer in the "GOAT" discussion. He capitalized heavily on the mental edge that he had, where Federer displayed his mental weakness.

Other than that, as the OP points out, most of Nadal's wins are on clay, where he is clearly superior to everyone else in his era, and in 2013, where Federer wasn't playing particularly well.

I know people will say 2008 Wimbledon, but that match is one where Nadal was playing better from the start, and a combination of his choking and Federer's clutchness got him back even.

I disagree Federer was still in his prime in 2012, but whatever. That particular surface was very slow and slow HCs definitely favor Nadal more. Even Djokovic barely beat him there.
