You obviously have not seen any of Ferrer's matches lately.
The guy is playing the best tennis of his life.
Last night, I was not surprised he won, but I was surprised at how he did it: he dominated Nadal from the backcourt. He was on the offense most of the time and pounding those groundies with intense angles. Nadal was just flat beat by Ferrer. Ferrer wore Nadal out and made him pay for the way he beats up his body. By the end of the match, Nadal's hand, thighs, knees AND ego wore sore!

After such a big scalp the question is can Ferrer carry on playing so well in all remaining matches?

Especially since Djokovic is clearly the 2nd best fast court player in the world right now. The press might like the buzz of a Fed/Nadal final - but the true fans know Djokovic poses the best test.

Rafa's serve is still a major liability on fast courts - doesn't win enough cheap points. Needs to flatten it out and take more chances. As he found out last night, he's not the only guy who can grind from the baseline.

All hail, David! Great job!

Maybe in a best of 3 match, but that was one tournament. Djokovic got burned the next tournament in Cincy by a supposed 31 year old "geezer" by most people's standerds.

Best of 5 formats he is showing is mental weakness and his conditioning that is not quite up to par with the big boys yet.

This match shows the downfall of Nadal. His defensive game type without the ability to end points quickly has finally caught up with him. I'm predicting Nadal's going to lose that #2 spot really fast, especially if his legs can't recover in time for clay court season.

i don't mind tracy too much. courier has been gabbing non-stop since day one. robinson is an idiot. trautwig is a total sycophant. barkann is the worst of the bunch, with his moronic interviews . . . even john has bugged me with his constant melodrama . . .

The way you say "even John" gives me the impression that you usually find him bearable. Is that the case?

I'm quite fond of John McEnroe, myself.
