Correct assessment imo.
I think he's playing as well as Paris, just barely missing some shots. Ferrer is not just going to make Rafa look ordinary every time they play... no one should expect that.
The surface is a lot slower. Ferrer should still be able to win but he's making tons of UE's. He needs to grind it out.
Ferrer was trying to hit deep into Nadal's BH and went for too much too often, hitting balls just long of the baseline.
He's missed a lot of forehands and the returns on Nadal's serve have been floaters. Not the same case as Paris.
Another love game from Nadal to go 4-2. Like it like it
Outgrind Nadal? You gotta be kidding me. The only chance Ferrer has, is if he plays aggressively.
Peter Gabriel in the house
Allright .... I gave him the benefit of the doubt but maybe Nadal did tank last week ?
wow, this isn't beautiful. both Players making tons of errors, almost no rallies. wtf!? I couldn't tell one good point so far
aaah, there was one, a fh down the line!
Wow great FH DTL
By grind I meant not going broke like that to Nadal's backhand. Stay with him for a bit and then find an opening. Rather than whacking the ball too deep to Nadal's backhand.
Ferrer lacks patience sometimes. It's annoying.
this is nice war of strategy & tactics!
nobody will be tanking, both very tight , starting to get free and impose their strategy.
David definitely looking to go inside out and attack the lines because if he hits the middle of the court he is just running...Ferru will have to play better than Paris and I think he knows it.
"Momentum doesn't exist in sport but you can feel it" (Henman)
Looks like a clay court game to me.
Definitely agree with this.
He didn't tank squat. Nadal ain't playing all that great you know?
Ferrer is just missing left right and center.
Agree or not I believe that fast courts help Ferrer's game. He has not the power so fast courts certainly helps him hit winners.
Nadal knows he can play crap and win this match.
Ferrer misses a sitter!
Nah, he didn't. He got outplayed and probably didn't want to fight for every point to avoid long grinding match.
Looks like Ferru is tanking today. Just see the no. of UEs he is making left and right. May be it was all part of their plan. Rafa will tank at Paris and Ferru will tank at the WTF. After all they both are good buddies.
Nadal doesn't lose twice in a row against same opponent very often. Also, many people say the court surface is bouncier, which should favor Nadal's heavy topsin. I would be happy for Ferrer if he beats Nadal again, but I don't see it happening.
Ferrer giving his friend a helping hand to keep the No.1 ranking in the world.
You are contradicting yourself. From bold part, you are suggesting that it was a tank .
i was just wondering ...no one can know for sure
Yeap! the court is slow and high bouncing. Just saw highlights of years before and yeap. This really suits Nadal and he has to win this tournament.
This slower slow court is winning the match for Nadal.
i wanted to bet a good amount on Ferrer against Berych but now im not sure at all ...
What a passing shot!
See what I said earlier? That would be an easy winner in Paris.
Dem conspiracy theories...
Lol Rafa just pulled a Wimbledon 08 FH
What a winner!!! Another jaw dropping shot from Rafael Nadal.
Also breaks and takes the set 6-3! Vamos!
that was a typical nadal shot, yeah!
That should have been a winner! LOL this is just sad. Now I know why Ferrer is losing.
Rafa's 1st winner at 0-30 5-3, brilliant DTL FH winner on the run.
Awful stats for both that first set.
7 vinners and 29 UEs lol
Don't bet on it, but I think Ferrer can still beat Berdych.
DUDE! Your avatar confused me. I though why is the guy "whiskeyee" cheering for Rafa!
Then i saw your name
Well this isn't Paris. Paris happened and Ferrer got his way. Now they are in London and he has to expect things like that to happen because against Nadal they will.
I didn't see Janowicz take advantage of the Paris surface against Nadal...
Everything from the surface to the match is terrible.
Great shot from Nadal but honestly that should have been a winner. Indoor courts are supposed to be fast :-?
Nadal is winning this match for himself, he played a great 1st set.
The court doesn't hurt but he has to play his best at this level.
Played great? LOL I'm done here.
I wish Both Rafa and Djoko missed the finals for some reason. The tournament directors ruined the end of year fun that were the faster(not as slower) courts in the previous tournaments.
I love saibro (played my whole life on Saibro) but the tour gotta have some fast surfaces too otherwise it becomes boring.
Yes. It would be nice both of them fail to make the semis. What will the organizers do next year? Will they change the surface to clay indeed? This is just ridiculous.
That was epic. Are we watching the same match?
A winner and an ace.
