Nadal gamesmanship?

It's easy for Federer fans to forget about the gamesmanship after a win, but I thought Nadal was really bad at making Federer wait to serve, slow to come out at change of ends. Especially when Federer was serving for the match.

Obviously Nadal must be seen as a good guy off the court, but I detest the gamesmanship. It's breaking the rules to try to make someone else play bad. I don't like it but maybe it is just me

Nadal is a cynical maniac. He learned from the best, Toni Nadal, also known as Tio Toni.
Miguel Angel is the real hottie in the Nadal family. Totally fine with that. :p

He's been doing that since the beginning of his career. I guess people have gotten over with that. Not a good sportsmanship, but nobody cares.

I didn't see the whole match as I couldn't bear to watch at times and had to hide, but it seemed nadal was talking pretty openly with his box at some points, did that continue or simmer down? Dunno if it was just gibbering, or whether he was getting coached. Probably the latter.

Maybe you're just delusional. Give it a rest, he lost but I'm sure your miserable self will continue to complain about him.

They cry even when he loses :-D

Noone is forgetting anything, but we saw what happened when an umpire was directly challenged by a high profile player to do his job by enforcing the rules. The umpire said he decides when to enforce them. NUFF SAID about the despicable behaviour of the tennis authorities!

I was wondering that James K was told not to dish out any warnings or violations this being such a high profile match.

But the "umpire" makes different decisions about enforcing rules when Fed is on the other side of the net. ;)

He is Todd Marinovich, had everything gone perfectly. He probably doesn't see his on-court actions as being in the wrong, since it has been ingrained into him since he was a child.

No change there then. Just ask Nick Kyrgios!

Making your opponent play badly is a legitimate part of tennis tactics and employed by all the best players providing, of course, it is done within the rules.

I’m just surprised he didn’t try to take one before Federer served for the match.

Well, he changed his socks and he took a long time before making it back to court even after the ump had called time. So he definitely tried an icing move though, admittedly, he was also trying to send a message to Fed that he is ready to play another set. Smart move but for sure a bit underhanded.

Classic Nadalito

Worst was the 10 mn « toilet break » after losing the first set to break Roger’s momentum

... 'underfooted'?
but you're right:
had he been inflating his beach buoy instead, it might have sent 'the wrong message'.

VAMOS! (a la playa), btw.

PS: i think we need to cut him some slack has he also had to send his dirty socks by fedrex during the break: the left one for octo, the right one for claykwee (it takes time to bubble-wrap them).

It's the same delay tactics he employs on a regular basis

Kyrgios actually let Nadal get to his head with them, but not Fed

Fed ever complain about Nadal "gamemanship"? No? If it doesn't matter to Fed, why does it matter to you?
Federer has in the past but I think it was looked at as being a sore loser but I do think back in the day he used to take issue with some of Nadal's tactics but now he's probably used to it. Iirc he also made comments on uncle toni and his on court coaching. Also just because a player is ok doesnt mean we cant comment on it.

My word the saltiness of Federer fans never ceases. I can only assume its because defeat tomorrow renders his win over Nadal meaningless.

Can't be any worse than you trying to prop up Nadal's greatness with your recent threads. Nice try though.

Nadal has been a master of gamesmanship for years. Nobody can deny the amount of crap he's pulled over the years.

Maybe maybe not...but he has 18 Majors and primed to overtake Federer if Federer cannot nail his pet slam. The record books wont make any mention of gamesmanship.

Why do so many Nadal haters object to factual posts..such as Nadal beat Federer at Roland Garros a month ago?

And if Novak wins tomorrow he's in the same position as Nadal with Nadal having to keep winning his own "pet slam."

Do you have a point you're trying to make? I don't see any logic here. Nadal beat Fed on his worst surface in terrible conditions. Notice how Nadal not as able to attack Fed's 2nd serve yesterday compared to last month in RG. I wonder if it's because he couldn't go for as much due to the wind?

Wind is part of tennis...New York often windy down in Ashe and very hot.

Federer beat Nadal on his worse surface..so whats your point.

Why do federer fans get angry when gloating about yesterday but dont like it when Nadal fans bring up Roland Garros which was only a month ago?

Yes if Djokovic wins its all to play for..that is exactly my point.

Nobody is angry, just getting mildly annoyed that you insist on making pointless threads. You've made like a dozen in the past week.

Hard court season is coming up, so who cares about clay right now?

So why do people bother replying? My threads get the highest responses which is good for the site of course.

Anyway...lets enjoy one more grass court match. I agree clay is finished now. After tomorrow we get 9 months of hard courts.
