Nadal getting injured might be why he will win the FO!

If Nadal was healthy, we all know he would have tried to play all the clay events and be tired for the French Open. or even worst injured and let Novak vulture a FO like he did last year! At least now Nadal is forced to miss at least 2 clay events, and if we are lucky, he will skip that Madrid Open too which is more like a hard court than a clay court. I honestly think Nadal just needs to play Rome and he will be ready to reclaim his FO title. and for those who want Nadal to play everything to get to the world #1, keep in mind that Nadal missed the second half of last year. He will have plenty of points to gain if he is healthy later, more than enough to reach #1 (especially if Novak is banned from Playing the US open).

Don't care about that no.1...Nadal has a realistic chance of getting 2 of the remaining 3 slams this year...I hope he stays in shape for those 2 (FO & USO)...nothing else matters at this point...

to be fair, if he wins even one of the remaining 3 slams this year, he will be #1 by default as long as he is healthy.

It's a blessing in disguise since this isn't a injury which will cause playing issues so coming less natchplay at rg is perfect but hoping inactivity doesn't cause foot problems again

You had a nice run with your latest username. Let’s see how long this one lasts.

Healthy Nadal was spanked at last RG.

There was no injury talk prior to or immediately after the event.

Djokovic didn't "vulture" RG, he fully earned it. Don't be salty.

Tennis needs Rafa healthy to prevent Novak from vulturing titles. or Alcaraz to start playing like the ATG that we all know he will be right now.

Oh I see, so titles are "vultured" only if the name of the winner is Djokovic. A lot of good "new users" lately.

yes "vultured". the same term Novak fans used when referring to Nadal's AUS 2022 title!

1) Djokovic fans saying Nadal vultured AO doesn't justify you stating all the titles Djokovic wins are automatically vultured, you're acting like a child
2) Comparing RG 21 and AO 22 wins is outright dishonest and idiotic

I have noticed that Rafa bashers never like a taste of their own medicine.

I don't think you can call it "vulturing" titles if he wins because he is better. But I do hope Nadal can with the French and compete at USO. Doubt very seriously he can win Wimbly.

I have noticed that you never read my posts and still run your mouth just because of my avi. Wasn't expecting much from either of the two TTW lunatic queens anyway.

Neither major title was vultured and both were deservedly earned. We can acknowledge this while also acknowledging unfortunate circumstances around both.

RG21 - Novak beat the other two best clay courters of that year back to back. The semi was also one of Djokovic’s best matches tactically that I’ve watched. Nadal’s movement was hampered slightly and his backhand form was off as a result. Djokovic noticed this and adjusted his gameplay throughout the match, increasing the spin and angle on his forehand to pull Nadal out wide on the backhand wing and expose the weaker form.

It was a well earned win by Novak, no doubt. We can also say Nadal had health issues too, he pulled out of the rest of the year shortly after missing Wimbledon and USO where he is a contender at both.

AO22 - Nadal won the title in one of the most epic ways imaginable and even if you hate the Bull, it’s easy to see why he’s one of the greatest fighters and champions in this sport’s history. He beat Shapo, Matteo, and then Daniil - admittedly not as difficult a draw as previous years, but similar and stronger than Novak’s last Wimbledon win. He managed to beat Medvedev, who just in the previous slam straight setter Novak.

We can acknowledge this while still recognizing that Novak’s beliefs and stubbornness cost him entry into the event, which he is not only a contender, but likely would have been the favorite.

All of this is true and both majors are earned.

Anyways I rambled a bit, but both fanbases trying to tear down these achievements is so silly. Onto the topic at hand…if Nadal is able to play Rome then I feel very confident he will go into RG as the clear favorite even if he plays rusty in Rome.
