Nadal has won 82 straight service games in a row without being broken. This streak stretches back to Cincinnati. It is even better than his streak at the US Open in 2010, where he won the title being broken just 5 times.

Does anyone else view this as especially significant?

He always has this great not-broken runs when he's in form, especially on clay. He's playing his best tennis and he's more aggressive than usual at the moment.

The last player who broke him will be the next to break him.

Pointless trivia. Djokovic is going to make mincemeat of Nadal's serve at the US Open.

Not to mention it's not that hard to hold serve against the likes of Isner, Harrison, Dutra Silva, Dodig, Robredo, Gasquet. The only opponent fairly decent who's capable of breaking was Kohlschreiber.

Just give credit where its due.

Federer and Djokovic have never accomplished this despite having better serves than Nadal.

That's it, season him like a lamb to the slaughter. Lull him into a false sense of security before butchering him on Sunday.

Wasn't aware the SF had been played?:???:

It is a magnificent stat and shows how confident Rafa is right now. However, to me personally, it is not as impressive as winning a tournament (or several ones) without dropping a set, the ultimate challenge being of course not getting broken AND not dropping a set. I don't think anyone has ever done that at USO. Not sure about the other slams.

He already lost a set. How is this at all relevant?

He could lose 7-6, 7-6, 7-6 and you could still say that he never lost serve.

Because losing serve is a whole different ballgame to a minibreak in a TB, don't be silly, The guy hasn't been broken in a hell of a lot of games. Give props.

This.

Respect to Nadal, I went to the match against Robredo the other night and it was super impressive, I was watching his winners thinking...."I wonder what this looks like on TV" I think he even popped 1 at 124mph. I think he is ready to win this, I luckily got tickets to Djoker vs Youzny last night and I have to say Nadal is just on another level, hitting the ball much harder than Djoker, for what that's worth.

Thanks, that's good to hear :)

I dispute that Djokovic's serve is better than Nadal's, I think right now they are pretty comparable with Nadal having a slight edge. Also, as Djokovic himself has stated Nadal has the best second ball (IE finishing forehand) in the game.

Perhaps you are right. I just wanted to say that Nadal's achievement is impressive and not "pointless trivia".

Nadal has always been a good going on great I say great hard court player.
Excellent run nonetheless.
Looking like he is hot to take this US Open.

Nadal could triple bagel every match in a tournament and there'd still be that same, obnoxious group of people undermining it.

The only significance is that this is yet another proof of the ridiculous cakewalk draws he has been having. Applies to both USO 2010 and 2013.

Yeah it's too bad Nadal didn't have the likes of Benjamin Becker to break his service twice in a set. What a cakewalk LOL Nadal is an over-the-hill washed up bum. Does he also hold the record for most fluke HC masters? disgrace.

You've listed but 8 opponents, whereas Rafa has repelled 82 straight return games at the highest levels in the world of tennis. The difference is significant.

impressive streak, even if the opposition hasn't been the strongest. The last time he had such a serving streak was in wim 06 , 80 games IIRC, broken by federer in the final.

its not pointless. Its an impressive achievement, even if against weaker opposition. Djokovic will break him multiple times should they met , no doubt.

It's a great run. When Federer went on streaks of conseucitve service game points won I always got nervous. There's always an equalizer (eg. Tommy Haas winning set after wining 0 points on Federer's serve at RG).

I'm impressed with his wins on HC. That was his big hole. That's why he also has less weeks as nr.1.

If he continues to win more HC majors and gets more weeks at nr.1, he will go up on the goat list.

I'm a bit surprised he managed to make such a strong comeback on his weaker surface after a long absence. But happy.

Ding dong the streak is dead :)

it was easy while playing challenge level players and lapdogs in a cakewalk clown draw.

Has faced chumps andnot a single good returner or big hitter. A totally useless stat but it does sound impressive.

And it pays off. Nadal won the title having been broken just 4 times in the tournament (once against Gasquet, thrice against Djokovic). Nadal has been almost untouchable in his service games.
