Stop the presses! I think the Mayans were right; the world is coming to an end  maybe he really can win the U.S. Open.

Nadal hit one at 151 mph in practice so it isn't that big of deal. I think Rafa purposely holds back on the speed to get better placement. Very smart.:)

I think only an idiot would seriously believe that Nadal can hit that speed with his service motion.
Well it's just too bad you're not a Nadal fan, because otherwise you would have probably volunteered to teach Nadal the right service motion by now.

I do think Nadal is like late-career Rafter in that he understands placement/overall effectiveness is more important than ace count/mph.

As far as flattening out his groundstrokes, it's too late for that this year. That's something you need to work on in the tournaments leading up to the USO and the previous Masters. At this point he should just do what he's doing and try to execute as well as possible.

This is the fastest Nadal's served all year, IIRC... It might be the fastest he's ever served...

If he keeps up this level of serving and steps up his aggressive play against Simon, I think his next match will be an awesome show. He just needs to really get into his opponents service games better..

Can't complain about his serving though :) what's his serve stats so far in the first 2 rounds?

What is the big deal. Amateurs can hit 133 mph in a flash. All the club players are doing it, Nadal should be ashamed that it took him this long to catch up.

Then Roddick must be a pharmacy on legs.
To Roddick it's natural to hit bombs, to Nadal it's natural to hit moonballs on clay. Everything that goes out of this pattern is abnormal and has quite simple explanation which I already pointed out in the previous post.

Nadal serves faster with his non dominant hand than most of the tour does with their dominant hand. How sad.

Rafa's serve has been amazing so far. The difference, even from Cincy to now at the USO is remarkable. I'm terribly impressed. :)

Is this just random *****ing, or do you actually disagree with me?

By the way, right and wrong is an idiotic way of looking at things. In this case we are considering whether a service motion is capable of producing a 150 mph serve or not. Nadal has quite a bit of spin even on his first serves usually.

Ya but for club players its usually a flat shot right down the middle with no accuracy.....

Nadal hit 134 with leftie spin.... essentially he hits over the ball. Roddick does the same thing..... its why his serves look a lot faster than they actually are. When you hit with spin you dont lose as much speed as a flat serve

134mph with his non dominant hand...

Imagine if he had a flat serve and played right handed?
yea he wouldnt even be in the top 50.

the only reason he's there is because he's a lefty and hits with SO MUCH spin and is therefore a horrible match up to the players on the ATP tour, which is made up of over 93% of righties.

very suspicious IMO of how he goes from barely clearing 118 in Cincinatti, to hitting bombs at 134 in USO in less then a week..

Thinly veiled steroid accusation, a claim that Nadal would be out of the top 50 and another claim that players only lose to him because they're right handed (even though those same players crush other left handed players like Lopez and Verdasco). All in one post!

Amazing.

Isn't this coming from a guy who said his parents wouldn't allow him to be out late at night in NYC. Are you twelve?

I disagree with you. As the top tennis player in the world by a huge margin, Nadal is capable of producing a wide variety of serves disguising them with the same service motion. If Fedace states that he observed Nadal produce a serve registering at 151mph on a radar gun in practice, I see no sensible reason to question his observation.

By the way, “wisdoming” is not a real word, that’s probably why it was censored when you typed it.

You are right, Nadal would be benchwarming at a weak D3 school playing right-handed probably. All this lefty business is very shady, but not as shady as added pop on the serve - the serve speed committee should launch an investigation to protect the integrity of our sport.

why are you so snappy?

you know that playing lefty is a huge advantage. i wasnt taking anything away from nadal there. he's worked very hard to become the player he is, and im sure that i would not be able to play with my left hand being a righty.

that being said, i think i have the right to wonder how in the world he managed to boost his serve from an average of 115 to hit be hitting 125+ consistently and peaking at 134 in under a week. there was no steroid accusation there, I'm simply wondering what he did.

that being said i dont know why you choose to bring up the topic that im not allowed out late in nyc.

a) it doesnt bother me
b) it has no relevance to the topic
c) im sure that if you lived in a nice safe suburb your parents wouldnt allow you to stay out late in NYC at age 15.

SoBad, I've decided that reading your posts is almost equivalent as banging my head against the wall, therefore I'll save you some trouble and myself the effort, and suggest that you stop posting responses to my posts, I dont care for them, nor will i be responding to them after I am finnished writing this. Your love for Nadal and hate for every other player amazes me. I do not hide that I am not a Nadal fan. But unlike you, I will give credit where its due. His ability to play lefty is due to his hard work and talent, and I did not say that that part is shady business. As i said to Nadalfan..who is part of your group of *********s, I am questioning HOW he managed to gain an average of 10mph and serve consistently at 125 and top out serves at 134 in a week. In fact, im sure everybody on this forum would like to know. Maybe its a grip change? Maybe hes working out? But id love to gain 10 extra mph on my serve in a week...wouldnt you?

I get your name now! You were BORN IN 1995!

I will no longer debate you in any way. Sorry kiddo!

A slight change in grip can easily add 10mph to your serve. Nadal even said he changed his service grip.

From the little of your posting that I have had a chance to read, I am suspecting that your head might be on the weak side, so banging it against a wall may not be such a bad idea for you – I doubt it could possibly make it any weaker. Your utter disdain for the world top player and all other good players is discomforting – I hope I will not see any replies from you to my posts from this point forward. I have absolutely no intention to share my insights or wisdom with someone incapable of appreciating those. No more casting pearl before swine for me. Good day.

Can anyone tell how exactly Nadal changed his serve grip a week before the USO (he mentioned that in his interview)?

Is it closer to Continental now (which means it was closer to Eastern Backhand before), or is it closer to Eastern Forehand?

I assume he went from a more topspin to a less topspin one.

I don't know why you all think he's on steroids. 133 is below average around TTW, I've just never seen him hit that hard, I was flabbergasted
