Nadal is Finished....

After losing easily to Dodig in Montreal, Nadal is done. He has no mind, and a weak retriever game. He will drop out of the top 5 next year, and slowly slide from there. Will never win another major. Will never shave again.

Thoughts?

Go away ya troll. It wasn't easily, it was 3 sets with 3rd set TB. The match was over 3 hours.

Wow that was awesome 7 replies in 3 min.

Just poking some fun at SStrikerR folks, if you bother to notice it is a verbatim copy of his "Murray is finished..." thread.

Stop exaggerating it, it was a tough match, and tie-breaks can always go both ways. Dodig just held it together on the bigger points. Rafa was clearly trying to be aggressive, it paid off great in the first set, but in the last two he couldn't sustain enough. It's a loss, but at least he'd being more aggressive, a step in the right direction. He was literally blowing the ball off the court in the first set, but then it became a bit of a shank fest. Now you know Rafa knows how it's like for Fed, being consistently aggressive is one of the toughest things to do in tennis.

This is coming from a Fed-fan, but I still praise Rafa's performance because he gave it his all, and you have to admire that. It's completely unrealistic to simply brush a player off. It's not like he got double bageled.

yea, i noticed. The never shave again made me remember the other one.

I am glad I was able to watch the tiebreak live. I can't believe how much dodig went for it the last couple points and how hard he hit the ball on that last point. It was as if he knew that was the only way he was gonna win.

Sure, he was rusty a bit. But c'mon guys, he lost in two tiebreakers after steamrolling the first set 6-1. He's not finished.

Really though all credit to Dodig he played a great match, served extremely well and played magnificently in the big points.

And to those who don't bother to read the rest of the posts, I guess the joke is on you.

True, but still the mental aspect is not fine... I mean, he served for the match, and lost two tiebreaks. He should have been able to do better.

I guess I will have to repeat this several times:|

These kind of parody threads are no longer "in". It will get deleted.

And oh, Rafa will win USO this year. Rafa is finished losing to the King.

Like it or not, the repeated beatdowns that Djoko put on Nadal this year are putting Nadal in a different light to other players. He no longer instills the "forget about winning, just try to put up a good fight" defeatist attitude in other players. Just like Nadal did to Fed after Wimby 2008.

He is not finished, but it reminds me of post RG 2009 Nadal where he had lost confidence. If it does continue, he'll need a pick me up and he can no longer rely on the clay season, but if Djokovic slips then he can get it back. Might just be a bad day though!

He won 4 grand slams after this. :D

Not to mention that he reached the USO final some 4 weeks after this (losing in a 4-setter to Novak). He then reached the subsequent AO (2012) final -- losing to Novak in an epic 5-set battle that lasted just 7 minutes shy of 6 hours! This was the longest AO match ever and the longest slam singles final in the Open Era.

One more 4-set AO final loss to Stanimal in 2014. 3 RG finals wins in a row after 2011 and a win at USO 2013 final. Not bad for a guy who was "Finnish" late in 2011.

Nadal did just fine in 2011. Only one mana could beat him.

I have counted Nadal out multiple times. His ability to come out of injuries and slumps is otherworldly. I am done, saying he is done. However, this time feels a little different. It's a longer slump, he's not a young buck anymore. The clay court season will tell all. If he goes another year without a big title on the clay in Europe that might be the fat lady singing. At least on his slam winning days.

She has already sung and the clouds have gathered. Not onlly will Nadal never win a Major again or Masters 1000, im even doubtful if he can win at 500 level. Even in Qatar he never looked convincing against average players, he got royally found out against Djokovic and Verdasco and Thiem are concrete evidence that Nadal's true level now is arounf the world no 30 mark.

I love Nadal, will forever be my favourite player but facts are facts, he is woeful now and players are lining up to have a crack at him.

Let's not exaggerate now. He won a 500 last year and he made the Madrid final. A lot of players can win isolated or minor titles. The difficulty is a- dominate on a regular basis, b- win the biggest ones.
The field in a 500 is often not that different from a 250 anyway (note that I didn't say "always" but often enough. A few like Dubai have tended to have a strong field)

But how is that anything to write home about for a player of Nadal's standard? He's losing in the first round of slams and losing inconsequential 250s to players Federer and Djokovic would thrash.

I was on the Nadal will make a comeback squad for a long time and thought he had one more comeback in him but it's been over two years and it seems he's getting worse. I'm at the point where I would have to see it to believe it. There's nothing I'm seeing which makes me believe at the moment.

That's final card for people to show how confident there predictions are, exaggerate things to the limit.
