Assuming he wins RG, which he will, he’ll have won 11 of them, 11/17 total Grand Slams. Take away his RG titles he has 6 slams only. However take away Djokovic and Federer’s RG titles, they will have 11 and 19 respectively. Hardly a dent. Nadal is overrated, without his clay court skills he’s just an average run of the mill multi slam winner and borderline GOAT.

Not an apples to apples comparison. RG is not Fed or Djokovic's best slam/surface.​

Take away Federer's Wimbledon titles, and he has 2 Wimbledon titles less than Nadal, making him in effect a mug.

Not to mention one of Nadal's titles he won by beating Federer himself.

No he is not overrated, but he is the greatest clay court player of all time and the 2nd greatest player period of all time....also if he wins this French open which is not guaranteed and Federer does not win Wimbledon then I think he will have a legit shot to break the record....the next 4 or 5 weeks in tennis is going to be epic and extremely important for the outcome of the greatest of all time debate.....I tell you what though djokovic, del potro, thiem, zverev, nishikori, isner, Schwartzman, cilic and a couple of others are playing great tennis on the clay right now and seem to be peaking while nadal in my opinion is not as dominant as a couple of the score lines show....he is by no means a lock for his 11th title this year at all like I thought he would be.....his tennis right now compared to monte carlo and Barcelona is not nearly as daunting of a task to these other players and I think they know that....I sill say he probably gets it done in the end, but I would not be surprised if we have a new winner at roland garros this year or novak for the 2nd time...

Actually, you are right. Except that I think Nadal played very well against Gasquet today, though you can't derive much from that.

yes he played well against gasquet today, but he's always going to look good in that matchup....however from 5-0 to 5-3 in the first set nadal went totally off the boil and was lucky to win that set 6-3 instead of it being closer....you just don't see that from nadal when he's totally confident and even in the first round he needed some help form his opponent to get out of the match unscathed....we'll see how the next few rounds go, but nadal is going to need to play better to win this tournament... there is also the #1 ranking on the line this tournament and even if he says it's not on his mind I can promise you that it is....
 
I dont think he is overrated. Nobody rates him as the GOAT, not even Nadal fans. He deserves to be ranked very high, probably 2nd in the Open Era, at this stage. He has numerous more slams than anyone not named Federer, and still counting. Yes a majority of them are RG and clay slams, but he has still won on all surfaces and at all the slams which many others (eg- Sampras, Borg) is not true of. It isnt exactly a secret his greatness is boosted far more by one surface (clay) than anyone else, so it is not like you are enlightening anyone by breaking that down.
 
Without the serve Federer would have never won a slam.

It's true Nadal has been routining relatively weak competition on clay for 13 years now (weak compared to past eras, otherwise decent).

However, even as someone who doesn't like Nadal, I appreciate what he is doing out there from time to time.

Nadal is not 5 Slams better than Djokovic and clearly not better than Federer, but he has managed to make the most out of his chances and the fact he regained form aged 31 years is remarkable for someone playing top tennis since he was 18 years old.
 
Nadal is a dyed in the wool clay courter. A top spin reliant, high bounce favouring, lover of the dirt. His style is more suited to that single surface than either of those guys that you mention. The fact that this man has 6 majors (That's as many as Becker, as Edberg, as Budge, just one shy of the likes of McEnroe, Lacoste, and Newcombe) on other surfaces is absurd. Granted, accomplishing those feats is easier the past 10/15 years than it has ever been in the game's history, but still... 5 Wimbledon finals for maybe the most clay courtery clay courter that ever clay courted? Even in this day and age that's madness. He even managed to win Cincinnati, which until the 2017 revolution in Australia (a tournament he made the final of, and took to 5) was arguably the 1000+ pointer tournament on tour most favourable to aggressive, attacking tennis.
