Nadal is really the best at beating his main rivals when it matters

Nope, I'm trying not to argue quite so much these days. Just want that 8th Wimbledon. If Federer gets his 18th at the All England Club my amount of caring about Nadal's relentless match to the record will decrease a lot.
I want Fed to win W as well :)

But he enters the event with no confidence IMO :(

Well I get his point now. Thanks :)

But extracting slams is never a great argument IMO

It's a terrible argument. Which is why I counter troll these clowns that try and take Nadal's RG titles away from his record to try and prove a worthless point.

We can take slams away from either one of them to improve our argument, it can go both ways which is why it's pointless to even try and do so, along with the fact that we can't alter reality to prove a point.

Taking Nadal's RG titles away is insane. The fact that he's actually won that many with only 1 loss in 10 years is even more insane. It's an achievement that needs to be celebrated not ignored...

Agreed The_Order :)

Nadal is extremely clutch, no question about it. Yet his results at Wimbledon, the biggest tournament on the Tour, have been puzzling. Going forward, producing some great Wimbledon results would be very impressive.

v Djokovic:

RG: 06, 07, 08, 12, 13, 14
WIM: 07
USO: 10, 13

v Federer:

RG: 05, 06, 07, 08, 11
AO: 09, 12, 14
WIM: 08

v Murray:

RG: 11, 14
AO: 07
WIM: 08, 10, 11
USO: 11

The thing that stands out here is, Nadal was able to overcome all of them on each surface. They haven't beat Nadal on clay yet...

*As a side note, I figure you're the best person to ask this, was this the first major in which Nadal has beat both Murray and Novak to take the title?

It was, yes. One can see that from the statistics you've posted above.

Nadal has beaten every Big 4 combination at RG

Djokovic-Federer: 2007, 2008 (I dont' count 2006 because Nole was not even in the top 10 at that time)

Murray-Federer: 2011

Murray-Djokovic: 2014

Pretty impressive stat. It highlights his domination at the event even more ;)

Whats roger's likely seeding at wimbledon? I am thinking a 5th seed.

I'm also thinking a 5th seed. Murray may get 3rd or 4th seed, remember Wawrinka went out in the 1st round last year so Federer could get 4th based on his legacy.

Federer will be 4th I think, his Wimbledon + Halle points for the last couple of years will edge him a head of Wawrinka.

Well I visited Wikipedia and saw Djokovic seeded 1, Nadal 2, Murray 3 and Federer 4, followed by Stan at 5.

IMO Murray deserves to be seeded ahead of Novak and Roger ahead of Nadal. Nadal did much worse at W in the last 2 years than Roger.

And Murray reached the last 2 finals winning 1. He should be no.1 seed IMO.

Nadal had terrible results the last 2 years yet he is still seeded 2.

A bit unfair IMO

Well King of Clay was seeded 4th For the French last year despite winning it a million times.

Another Wimbledon here for Nadal will be colossal, 3 Channel slams and 3 Majors on every Surface. Amazing.

Seeds will be announced next week!
In 2002 the ATP and Wimbledon made an agreement to enable the Wimbledon seeding committee to alter the usual seeding procedure to permit a grass court seeding system to reflect each individual player's grass court achievements.
The system used to determine the Wimbledon grass court seeding is: ...(see Wikipedia)

Wikipedia:
¤¤ Gentlemen's Singles
The Gentlemen's singles seeds is arranged on a surface-based system to reflect more accurately the individual player's grass court achievement as per the following formula, which applies to the top 32 players, according to ATP Ranking on 16 June 2014:
¤ Take Entry System Position (ESP) points at 16 June 2014
¤ Add 100% points earned for all grass court tournaments in the past 12 months (16.06.2013 – 15.06.2014).
¤ Add 75% points earned for best grass court tournament in the 12 months before that (12.06.2012 – 15.06.2013)
