Well as long as he avoids the left arm it should be an even fight LOL
What is Berdych's ranking, how many slams did he win, ect?
It is a shame that Berdych can't put that same work on other players to win some titles LOL
Nadal's warning for slow play against Tomas Berdych at 3-2, 40-30 in the 2nd set of the ATP Masters Madrid Quartefinals:
yeah that is a pathetic behavior by nadal and all those isolated warnings he gets are useless . he should get penalized harder
what is the different between davis cup and marid master ??
Nadal has always displayed poor sportsmanship on court, and a utter lack of respect for his opponent.
Davis Cup matches are known for being ... rowdy.
Guess what he still does!
i don´t undestand how this people are still read on this forum, how can someone possible say such a dumb thing in just one sentence?
If you dislike Nadal is ok, just an opinion, but how do you dare to question his sportmanship?
I thought the Nadal Roddick match was taking quite a bit of time, but couldn't put my finger on why. Then I noticed that Nadal really does take quite a bit of time. I already hate watching Djokovic's matches for that reason, Nadal is almost as bad.
Taking waaaaaayy too much time during the changeover during tiebreakers
You must be blind to not notice how long he takes between points and esp on crucial points...I am sure he would still be winning his matches even if he did not waste time but how can you say it is good sportsmanship to make your opponents wait everytime...right from the coin toss till the last serve
Make it more 'EPIC' Nadal really wants that 'Longest Match on History' record
i have to admit, although I am a fan of Nadal, the amount of time he takes to serve is very very frustrating.
let's see... does his hair with no rush. proceeds to bounces ball with racquet whilst he adjusts his shorts. then bounces the ball with hand at leisurely pace. then wipe his face using his shoulders a couple of times. then sways back and forth a couple of times, then finally prepares the service motion.
on the bright side, at least he doesn't adjust his socks anymore!
but yes, very frustrating.
I'm going to have an unpopular view here. For me it's not about Nadal doing this specifically but Djoker or anyone else who takes more time than normal and plays slow. I will fully admit that I am a slow player and take plenty of time between points. I have never been called on it by anyone and don't know a specific amount of seconds that I take either. That said nothing is more frustrating to me that when after retreiving a ball from the net or to the side of the court when receiving then I get to the baseline to return and turn around to find the server ready to toss the ball immediately. When I see this I immediately hold up my hand to give myself a few seconds to make my plan, where I'm going with the return set my feet etc. I have had people get a little frustrated with this but I'm only talking about maybe 3-4 seconds. Geez give a guy a chance to prepare himself.
On my serve I always walk to the back fence once I have 2 balls. Decide on what kind of serve I'm gonna hit, where it's going and then what my next shot would be. I then walk to the baseline, bounce the ball 5 times with my racquet and then 3 times with my hand. Then serve. This is for first serves, if that misses I then bounce 3 times with racquet and 2 times with hand and serve second serve. My point in all of this is that perhaps Nadal, Djoker and others that are slow players feel their best when they have a bit of time to compose themselves. I know I hate playing against people that play very quickly. I would def. slow down the speed of a Roddick or Federer who both play what almost seems like speed tennis to me.
I think the point here is that Rafa consistenly takes between 30 and 45 sec to start a point and it's complately against the rules. However I do not blame Rafa or Djoker one little bit as it's totally the fault of the officials.
I agree with Brad Gilbert in that a serve clock should be installed at all tourneys. Point ends and the clock starts, 20-25 sec pass and if the ball is not away immediate fault; like they do in other sports. Rafa stated it 2 years ago when the press asked him about his delay tactics, and he calmly said that he will continue his routine until the umpires call him on it.
that's a good point. it's like they are playing in fast motion, also takes away from the pleasure of the sport. Part of the fun in watching sports for the audience is that you are not worried about time , if you are going to make it like work and worry about time etc. you might as well go do some work. If federer and roddick slowed down a tad more, there would also be a little bit more time for the anticipation to build up for the audience and it could be more fun.
sounds good , but i disagree. he is stalling and imposes his rhythm on all of the matches he plays. its against the rules. use them or scrap them. no fiddling around like now ..its a disgrace.
Even Djokovic no longer does it. He's almost completely cut his ball bouncing routine out. Very very rarely does he do the 40 ball bounce now.
Nadal STILL routinely takes too much time. It's ridiculous. Just because the umpire doesn't call you out on it, doesn't mean you should break the rules.
Either remove the rule, or enforce it. That's what I say.
Like Nadal said on his interviews 'he will continue to do it until umpire calls him on it' and as we saw today umpire did nothing so nothing is a free man lol
Its sorta like speeding. Its illegal to drive 60 mph in a 55 mph zone.....but you never get a ticket for that. On the other hand if you are driving 90 mph in a 55 mph zone you will get pulled over.
Its the same for Nadal by analogy. He is not really delaying by all that much. Its such a minor infraction that no one really cares excpet for Fed fans here at TW. This is not an issue in the real world.
Nadal is doing 60 mph in a 55 mph zone. Who the hell cares! Nadal is only over the time limit by seconds.....give it a rest. Federer lost .....deal with it and stop hating.
He is over the limit by a clean 10-20 seconds. That's a significant amount of time. I've timed it multiple times. Don't believe me? Go watch some matches on YouTube. Time from the end of the point, to when Nadal strikes the ball on his serve. Almost consistently 30-40 seconds.
Check my SIGNATURE mate i am far from a fed fan hahaha
I gotta hand it to Nadal tho, hes very good at getting away with it and i look forward to more in the future dont you
True, bagelling opponents is so ungentlemanly in my part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Scotland.
I dont know how long he is over....nevertheless I dont think even at worst 20 seconds is a very big deal at all. Again its like driving 60 mph in a 55 mph zone.
Its not a big deal.
Federer lost ...and its not because of a delay of game or anything. He just was simply beat. Please deal with it and move on.
Stop trolling *******.
Namranger will never move on i tell you hes very good at keeping grudges
exactly. A great analogy but nam is impervious to it.
I'm a huge Rafa fan but he was irritating the crap out of me yesterday by being slow between points. If I had been in the audience I would have shouted hurry up
Specially at slam finals like the 2008 FO....:-?
don't egg him on man, that's not nice, he obviously feels very strongly about it, that's why nam isn't giving nadal the sportsmanship award.
Nadal's peers didn't vote him for the sportsmanship award for a reason. Nice guy off the court, but annoying as Stepanek on the court.
He has too much OCD, and that won't change....
Should make an unsportsman ship award for kicks haha
Oh yeah sure...when someone calls out your fav player and states true facts, he becomes a troll...
and how ironic is it that the biggest ******* calls other posters a troll!
woahhh fight fight fight
You want to take this outside.
You do need to go outside and stay away from your computer to get a life
what are you thinking if he goes outside Fed fans all over will be right there to maul him
Nadal needs to stop this crap. Or we need officials with a pair of balls. Berdych in my eyes is fully justified for what he did, playing that man 4 times, i'm sure he knows his antics. I don't post on these forums a lot but there seems to be a war vs "*******s" and in general NadalFreak. Whats your opinion on what Nadal said NadalFreak?
There was an excess of time between changeovers and it should have been penalized. I won't argue that. However, Nadal does not routinely go over time anymore. He has sped up his in between time. He will occasionally go over, but it does not happen for the majority of points. It's just not true. Time most of his matches during IW and he did not go over 90-95% of the time. Yesterday, he was slower and more deliberate. Probably because of the wind. But I see progress and I'm glad. I hope he progresses more.
It does not make me like him any less as a player. But I would prefer that he be treated with the same rules as anyone else.
fair enough, i see your point. As i like to have an open mind, i admit Nadal sometimes takes too time between serves. however, as i already said, i think its much worse throwing the racquet on the floor, yelling at the umpire or trying to cheat when playing on clay courts (i mean when you know your opponent´s ball was in and you mark another ball-print). Many player do these thinks, so lets give Nadal a break.
PD: As you said, Nadal would win his matches , wasting time or not
PD 2: It´s curious how some people start the "wasting time" debate when Federer have just got in a slump and Nadal is number one over the last few months. When federer was still number one they didn´t care about Nadal arranging bottles and that silly stuff
sorry for the typing, i meant things
If Nadal does have OCD then he has a serious sickness and should be treated as somewhat handicapped.
If he needs a couple of extra seconds to create art what's the big deal?
Behtoven was deaf but I am sure no one rushed him to create his symphony.
The haters just keep crying about this extra time deal.It is up to the umpire to do something if it so bad.It has no effect on the match+is no big deal.
It is just killing all the rafa haters that he has taken over as the undisputed #1 player. So they have to keep crying over+over about him taking to much time. All i can say is waw waw waw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I loved it when in 1 of Nadal's matches, the umpire warned Nadal he was getting too slow on his serve and Nadal said "I know, thank you", such a perfect gentleman, he's also known for saying thank you to the ball kids when they give him a towel during the match.
I'll join in oh it's so sad......:cry::cry::cry::cry:
If it were not so sad....it would actually be sorta funny.
I mean they carry on is like a comedy routine.....but truthfully I just really feel their pain.
People need to stop rubbing it in their faces.
Everyone knows whats really going on here.
lol. He's obviously a great role model.
