This point seems to be lost on some in their hastiness to denigrate Nadal. First serves were exceptionally high and unforced errors low, but still Special K found a way to win. Actually, at certain stages of the match he "bullied" Nadal similar to Stan's effort in the AO (even before the injury became apparent).
Those carrying on about K's return of serve in the match need to look at the stats, particularly the high % of first serves. At one stage, the 2nd set, Nadal's was 90%+, but he remained highly competitive during that set, except for a loose volley, may have won that set also.

Nadal actually went down after losing the first set this time. Well you can only tempt fate so many times. Something's gotta give eventually.

It's one thing to not see it coming...which is fine, since we are all wrong at times. But you were freakin' cocky as all hell, now that I'm reading back through this thread. Calling people out for being dumb and just being plainly rude.
And now that Rafa has lost, it's all sour grapes for you and you want Fed to lose to make you feel better. Very typical (and typical for some others here as well).
I am a big fan of Djoko, but I am never rude nor cocky.

I like you since you are also a Novak fan, and I do feel bad for Rafa given how hard he fought. I do have a great eye for talent so I can understand why people didn't think this kid could keep up with Nadal. He is as tenacious as a bulldog.

I liked Clarky, she was much better than posters like 1-3-0, octobrina, tennis addict, dudeski, Magnus, and that whole crew. At least she wasn't quite as aggressive and crude in her hate towards players. Her posts always made me laugh as well, unlike the aforementioned posters.

Oh, give it a rest. You can only blame your favorite player for dropping the first set to Klizan, Rosol, and Kukukiskin. I doubt these guys would even have gotten a set on Federer, Djokovic, and Murray.
Djokovic has played much higher ranked opponents than Nadal has all tournament, but he has been navigating through it quite smoothly. That doesn't make his draw "Cake-***"
but yeah, the scheduling sucks.

Kyrgios did beat Gasquet too, so this is not his first high-ranked scalp this Wimbledon. This is not a bad loss at all.

WTF? Djokovic played two horrible opponents. Stepanek took one set from him (and almost took him to a 5 setter!). Simon is also a tough opponent. Nadal has not had an opponent of the quality of any those two. About Federer, he swept the floor with a guy that took Nadal off a Wimbledon a few years ago... give me a break!

If it were just him you might have a case. But maybe you didn't notice - the points aren't that long on grass. 3 days in a row isn't that bad. And he's not about to turn 33. If his over-practicing is coming home to roost only his uncle and the guy in the mirror are to blame.

With this loss, there is no more denying that grass has become Rafa's worst surface. Hasn't reached quarter at W since 2011. That is a very contrasting result to what he's done in the 3 other slams. I think he's not able to return on the surface the way he was in the past. The serve wasn't too bad this year.
OTOH he had never played KG before, that was the 1st time and KG was having a breakthrough event with the type of game best suited to grass. Clearly, that didn't help.
From there, there are 2 good news for Rafa: very few events are played on grass each season and he will surely fare better on clay and hard. Even if he doesn't repeat his extraordinary summer of last year, I think he will have more opportunities to shine than on grass.
ETA: sillymonkey: Djoko didn't get the new grass prodigy maybe but still I don't think anyone would call Step, Simon, Tsonga and Cilic a cake. Of all the reasons to be angry at this loss, Djoko's draw surely can't be one...

Yup, clarky was nice with an odd sense of humor. Certainly better than a lot of posters, and what is so wrong if she picked Rafa to lose every time. She had a new nick for Joker every other day, too, which was quite funny. She took herself quite seriously, lol.
I am surprised to hear she attacked powerangle. maybe that's why she got banned. I saw her getting attacked a lot and never responding angrily -- people asking her to jump off a cliff etc, she took it coolly. I was surprised to find her banned.

She called Djokovic a silverback gorilla, yokel, ape and countless ridiculous insults over the years. She used to makeup stories about Djokovic all the time. When Djokovic stopped working with Dusan Vemic last year, Clarky pulled out some BS story about how Vemic was hurt by Djokovic spewing vulgar insults at him during his match against Isner in Cincy, which plenty of posters questioned her about and she had absolutely nothing to say about it and just never posted again on the topic. She sank so low at times that she accused Djokovic of milking the death of his dead coach last year. So, NO! She was crude, aggressive, and full to the brim with hatred.
Those posters you mentioned are bad, but Clarky was absolutely ridiculous and more than capable of giving every single one of them a run for their money. Its a great thing she got the ban hammer.

I think this should be quoted because I think it's pretty accurate. Any Nadal fan (or otherwise) complaining about Krygios's celebrations just needs to look at Nadal. He's bad enough with celebrations now, but when he was Nick's age he was even worse. The Rome finals in 2005 and 2006 and the Wimbledon finals of 2006 are particularly vivid in my memory.
Really, Nadal got a bit of his own medicine today where the celebrations are concerned. He was just as bad if not worse when he was Nick's age.
