Nadal looked so sad like was going to cry

I am not a Nadal fan BUT I think Novak's celebrations were a little over the top. I know people won't like my comment but I feel Novak Djokovic's family lacks class.

You can tell from the Wimbledon crowd their applause was polite BUT Novak's parents are so unfriendly. I think Novak definitely is a great champion but his parents just don't seem like nice people they boast too much.

You can see that Rafael was just crushed because he hasn't lost a grand slam final in four years. I thought Rafael and Novak were friends? It's not like Novak never won a slam before but I felt bad for him. It looked like Rafael was going to do a Roger Federer and cry. Maybe Nadal is crying in the locker room right now? I think Nadal needs to study the tapes of the final to improve against Novak. I was shocked that Nadal admitted to John McEnroe that losing to Novak so many times got into his psyche. So often tennis players claim that it doesn't affect them losing to the same player over and over.

I don't see how he celebrated anymore than Rafa did at Wimbledon 2008... at least he didn't walk all over the roofs.

This was his dream to win wimbledon (means more to him than any other slam) and the first time he has beaten Nadal in a slam, so cut him some slack.

I do think his parents can be horrible, but then again I did see Nadal's dad banging his fist and grimacing when Nadal lost a point and he didn't look too nice either. But let's not blame players for their families.

Novak didn't celebrate too much, I don't have a problem with people celebrating. It's just that sometimes the way things are celebrated by the Novak camp is a little too much. Too many Serb flags and thumps on the chest if you ask me. And no, I am not a Croat.

I disagree. This is Novak's 1st Wimbledon win, and the 1st one is always the most emotional, not to mention his favorite slam. You can't ask nole not celebrate after the biggest win in his life. No way that Nole and his camp shouldn't be let go all of their joy/emotion, it happend only once in your lifetime.

BTW, Nadal celebrate when he won the USO, which Nole was deeply wounded too. In case you didn't know.

I think Nole's celebrations were perfectly fine; nothing over-the-top. Trophy ceremony was pretty cold though--they haven't been all that chummy ever since Novak's team's Madrid celebrations.

One more thing, nadal won 2008 W and he climb up into the stand to celebrate with their team. Is that a classless act too?

There can only be one winner so I don't usually dwell too much on the losers, I surprisingly found myself feeling sorry for a lot of players as they exited this Wimbledon. Nadal today. Murray and Federer earlier in the week. Because they all need to go and work on their mental games and their confidence to get over their losses which is a lot harder to do than hitting the practice court to get ready for their next game. Hope they can put grass behind them and do great at the USO instead of slumping. Murray especially.

I didn't think there was over-celebrating by either Novak or his family. They are happy. If my family was subdued, I'd wonder just how much they realize this meant to me.

Of course, he already knew He was gonna win when He found out Nadal was his opponent in the final.

I think his celebration when he beat Tsonga was bigger. Novak deserves this more then anyone. The amount of work and sacrifice he put into his training and changing his diet paid off huge for him. You cannot deny he is the best right now. He deserves his moment, no question.

Djokovic's celebrations doesn't bother me AT ALL. I've no idea how people see them as classless. Even Nadal whom I don't like a whole lot is OK in this matter. The only winning celebrations from a player that really pissed me off were Soderling's. 2009 FO against Nadal, 2009 Masters Cup against Nadal, 2010 FO against Federer and I could think of a few more. Federer, Djokovic and Nadal after winning a match are pretty classy.

Yes, I agree. SoderRat is the epitome of classless in this regard.

I actually was a bit surprised at how tame Novak's celebration was when he won championship point. I agree with catskillthunder that his celebration was bigger when he beat Tsonga to get the #1 ranking. Does the #1 ranking mean more to Nole? Who knows. Maybe because he finally achieved one of his goals by beating Tsonga...and this was just icing on the cake. For Novak...it was a subdued celebration almost, considering he just won the tournament of his dreams.

He's been way more emotive earlier this year (against Murray in Rome, for example). I also noticed he didn't do his usual taking off his shirt and tossing it into the crowd. Maybe because it is Wimbledon and he is being more respectful?

I don't like his family/camp either...but I felt they were ok with this one. I've seen way worse from them before.

Are you kidding me? This is the Super Bowl here. Celebrations are necessary. I don't want tennis to be a boring sport. It still has that reputation in America.

Why do some people have problems with someone who celebrates for something he has yearned for and finally accomplished it? It's not like he's going around mocking the losers. Just let the guy have his moments.

Why are you so angry??

Just because Nadal got destroyed once again?? LOL

Holmes: Something tells this detective that at 91 posts, and showing this much angst that this is an alternate account... But like yourself, it did make me chuckle.

At the OP, there was nothing at all wrong with his celebration. He celebrated far more in his previous wins against Ralph. He probably toned it down if anything due to the criticism he received then. You're coming across with having unfair bitter undertones.

forehand avenger. you should have a drink!!!!

I think he better not study those tapes if you want him to stop crying.

i totally agree. i mean, the guy was dreaming about just playing in the Wimbledon finals since he was FOUR. and he actually won, and got number 1 to boot. you can't expect him to not celebrate.

Djokovic is notorious for his over the top, obnoxious celebrations. I wouldn't blame Nadal if he cried, losing at arguably the most prestigious tournament hurts bad

If Soderling is classless, this speaks volume about your own character.

I also was crying inside when I saw your avatar. Some people here actually don't like ugly broads, how about changing it to something less offensive?

Seriously grow up, take a loss in stride. So what your favorite player lost, it happens. No need to wag your proverbial sanctimonious finger at players when you're rolling in your own hypocrisy.

I'm just having fun, buddy. I can assure you I don't like ugly broads though.

Nadal fans, please try to be graceful in defeat. Micheal Nadal started a thread recently about how quiet it was when Federer lost. Now don't spoil it by taking credit away from Neo.

He won Wimbledon. If you don't take out an AK47 and start shooting at the crowd, I'd say that your celebration is fine.

Wimbledon is the tournament he has always wanted, after putting in an incredible performance to get it, his celebrations were what i'd of expected. Congrats Novak! Enjoy it.

Poor Nadal - looked like he was seething after the match...I've seen him lose and smile - but today he looked downright angry.

Honestly I was expecting a bigger celebration from Novak considering the occasion...
And I felt somewhat dissapointed... Probably feels so overwhelmed.. At least Nadal didn't win... AGAIN...

I got the feeling that Nadal was very angry at the errors he made towards the end of the match. Nadal had chances to win that fourth set if he could have taken break points, but he totally fluffed the opportunity.

Maybe he felt bad at beating Nadal again in a final... they were always fairly friendly but I think Nadal is starting to get annoyed... i think sometimes he's looked even more upset than Federer did when he was getting beaten by Nadal time and time again. Maybe because apart from clay, Federer knew that he was close to Nadal and probably should have been winning but he kept throwing it away or Nadal was mentally tougher. At the moment Nadal is being outplayed on every surface by Djokovic and there's not much he can seem to do. It's also against a guy he was 16-6 up on the H2H record recently.

Also I think Novak was slightly in shock.

Nadal needs to be calm. It's this angry side to him that is making him lose this concentration more often these days, not just against Novak.

He doesn't seem to channel that inner calmness like in the past.

I'm not sure getting angry will solve anything.

Nadal was determined to beat Novak after IW and four matches later he is at the same point.

All I'm saying is that he needs to be more zen about this.

Nadal and Djokovic have had plenty of epic matches in the past, but you always felt in the past that Nadal would win the most crucial points and the most crucial matches. In their 2011 matches, you feel that Nadal is on the defensive when they are having epic rallies, and that's just something Nadal hasn't experienced in a long time. Djokovic has been "out-Nadalling" Nadal.

It's also against a guy he was 16-6 up on the H2H record recently.

14-4, 14-7 and 16-7. It's now 16-12.

It's a riddle for Nadal and a bit worrying. It's feeling a bit like cheering for Hewitt against Federer in 2004/2005 at the moment. Nadal has got to find the answer to this riddle.
