Nadal-Murray WTF semifinal - best match of the season

Really??? I'm not a Blake fan nor hater, but come on....it's like you just wanted to throw that out there because it has Blake in it.

It's not like I'm the only one to mention that match either.

blake delpo at the AO deserve to be right up there

Monfils v Federer?? Really?

These matches were may more entertaining than that borefest.

Del Potro v Blake - AO
....

Soderling - Federer Roland Garros was better, what about Gasquet - Youzhny Australian Open?

Wow the Top 5 is not that good of a list:

Nadal - Murray: was good but not out of this world. The ending was very entertaining.

Djokovic - Federer: was a combination of good and really bad but it was mediocre at best.

Isner - Mahut: is just mentioned because of the scoreline but hardly a good match yet alone a great match.

Soderling vs Llodra: The only match that deserves to be in the Top 5. That was high high high quality tennis from both players. Too bad for Llodra though but Soderling definately showed some mental toughness in this match.

Federer - Monfils: Are you guys fricking kidding me? This was a combination of Monfils serving great and Federer good serving and terrible shotmaking from the baseline which earned a fluke win for Monfils.

Here are the real candidates:

Nadal - Davydenko @ Doha: was a very good match. Great comeback from Davydenko and great win.

Blake - Delpotro @ Australian Open: very good match. Too bad for Blake though

Tsonga - Almagro Australian 0pen: 2 players I don't like very much but they put on a very good match surprisingly. Very good ending as well.

Gasquet - Murray: Very good match from Gasquet until he ran out of gas.

Soderling - Federer Rolland Garros: Very good match with both players playing exceptionnally well. Best performance of Soderling that I've ever witnessed (ever better than Rolland Garros 2009 vs Nadal)

Verdasco - Ferrer US Open: That was a very entertaining match. Great ending as well.

My overall favorite match of this year still has to be Nadal Davydenko @ Doha when Davydenko was in god mode from Shanghai 2009 - Doha 2010

I don't agree with the Isner/Mahut match. Granted the match was epic due to its length, it only really went on so long since they were both so bad at return of serve.

Agree.

I don't agree with the Monfils-Federer match either. No epicness at all. But, it was a slow year filled with uneventful matches.

My list:

Nadal-Murray, WTF
Nadal-Soderling, RG
Berdych-Federer, Wimbledon
Federer-Soderling, USO

And probably one of the non-Fedal matches I didn't bother to watch.

No way Fed-Nole can be 2nd best match of the year. First set Nole choked, then Fed crumbled in the second then another choke from Nole in the 3rd and another crumbling from Fed in the 4th, and finally it was Fed who choked in the 5th.

That's how I saw it too. Only the fifth set was good as far as the suspense, but it was way too up and down with both players acting like they didn't want to take the W.

Yeah. It's a bummer Djokovic tanked those two sets.

Nah, Federer said he was trying to conserve energy for Rafa and gave away the 2nd and 4th sets once he got down a break in each. Not sure about Djokovic, he's just inconsistent with the unforced errors and winners whenever he plays Federer, has to go for broke to stand a chance, so I can see why Djokovic is streaky.

^ I also remember Federer kind of admitting that. It was something along the lines of "I should have put more effort in those 2 sets that I lost", which sounds like a strategic mistake to me.
