Nadal must be the biggest favourite to win a slam in history

What were 2009 Nadal’s odds going into the FO that year?

One of my best buddies was going to take out a loan to place a huge bet on Nadal that year. Good thing he didn’t!

Hmm, in history? Really? How about when he was 4 time defending champion in 2009? How about Federer at Wimbledon last year? Or most of the years during his five in a row there, or at the USO? Djokovic in Australia in 2016? At Roland Garros in 2015? Sampras during his Wimbledon run? Borg during his? Borg in Paris? Don Budge during the course of winning 6 consecutive majors?

Has there ever been more of a foregone conclusion than Nadal winning FO 2018? I really can't think of any. The only thing that will stop this is an injury. Just give him his 17th slam now! I would even go as far as saying him not dropping a set is almost just as much of a certainty. Federer's slam count is under threat I feel as I think Nadal can win this FO and at least another 2 more FO's. And surely he has a shot at another hard court slam somewhere. Federer perhaps unlikely to add to his?

I really think it is. I always say on here no such thing as a lock to win at the start of an event...this is without doubt the nearest thing to it.
