Nadal News 2.0

Yes, another serve switch. I don’t like the extra step he makes in the court after serve though.

I think Fed and especially Joe can expose this big time.
Joe killed him with that return on the baseline center mark in the semi's at Wimbledon last year, so that step in would be ill-advised against him. I dare say that but for Djokovic's consistently deep-down-the-middle returns in that match Rafa would've had an easy day(s).

Rafa arrives for practice:

Rafa suddenly stopped practicing and his physiotherapist examined his right knee, but he wasn't limping when he left the practice court.
Reportedly, he said that it was just a precaution (Anthony Alvarez's tweet below):

My goodness Rafa loves his boats! He's moving up to a super yacht! :p Wonder if he'll sell The Beethoven to someone else or keep it in the family?

@DbrowskiPiotr
Chyba w życiu nie dostałem tylu wiadomości z prośbą co robił Rafa Nadal w Gdańsku. Proszono mnie o dyskrecję ale teraz można ogłosić: Rafa buduje zamówionyą rok temu w Sunreef Yachts jednostkę i dopinał ostatnie szczegóły.

Google
I guess in my life I did not get so much message asking me what Rafa Nadal did in Gdansk. I was asked for discretion but now can announce: Rafa builds a unit ordered a year ago at Sunreef Yachts and finishes the last details.

Rafa was spotted in Gdansk, Poland:

I hope to get more info about his trip.
.
Rafa's visit to Poland may be related to winning his first ATP Tour title. He won it in 2004 in Sopot located approx. 12 km / 7.5 miles from Gdansk.

It seems that Rafa has ordered a new yacht that's bigger than his current yacht.

Translated from Polish by Microsoft:
Piotr Dabrowski: "I guess in my life I haven't received so many messages asking what Rafa Nadal was doing in Gdańsk. I was asked to be discretionary but now I can announce: RAFA ordered himself a yacht at the Sunreef Yachts year ago and added the last details [last week]."

Practice in Mallorca

The 3rd day of practice on grass at the Santa Ponsa Tennis Club

Doctor Angel Ruíz-Cotorro is watching Rafa's practice session. He only says that Rafa is practicing.

Rafa is leaving:

Translated from French by Microsoft
"Rafa trained for two hours today.
Before that he did a lot of work indoors to stretch his leg.
The heat is stifling, so big attention on hydration.
His doctor was present on the court but it was just a precaution.
High intensity and 0 discomfort."

¤¤ "Nothing on the knee"

Reported by L'Equipe (a French daily sports newspaper), Rafael Nadal reassured about conditions of his knee. The world number 2 said, " It's just a story of surface change (from clay to grass). This was only my second day on grass, it takes time to adapt, and I felt some stiffness in my (right) leg. Because of overloading the muscles, I think. But no, no, nothing on the knee." ¤¤

Just seen this tweet which, presumably, is referring to kneegate.

But, Tanika has no reason to be angry, because the photo was not taken by her. The picture was taken by Clara Margais, who posted it into the Getty Images:

Phew, I was worried!

Queens has been rained off for the 2nd day. What will they do if it rains all week? Rafa is far better off training at home.
I think so too. At his age, the possibility of practising regularly as opposed to maybe losing a random match to a journeyman at Queens/Halle is much more efficient both physically and mentally wise.

Good feelings for this year!

Wimbledon warm-up
The Aspall Tennis Classic at the Hurlingham Club in London, an exhibition event

euronews, June 20, 2019: ¤¤ Nadal to prepare for Wimbledon at Hurlingham event

(Reuters) - World number two Rafa Nadal has entered next week’s Aspall Tennis Classic in Hurlingham to get some grass court play under his belt ahead of next month’s Wimbledon Championships.
The tournament organizers confirmed Nadal, who has opted to skip competitive tennis since his 12th French Open title triumph earlier this month, will participate in two exhibition matches next Wednesday and Friday.
“I am always happy to play at The Hurlingham Club and be close to UK tennis fans,” the 33-year-old Spaniard said in a statement.
“It is a prestigious ground in one of the best settings in the UK, making it the perfect way to warm up for Wimbledon.” ¤¤

Hmm. The author of the article misleads readers. He skipped Rafa's words that he's going to play "maybe couple of matches" before Wimbledon, and gives readers the wrong impression that Rafa had no intention to play.

Video proof of Nadal hitting his 50th volley in his career. Nice!

Could you please show me Nadal doing serve and volley or chip and charge? I need a good laugh.
Serve and volley is so 1980s. Are you suggesting that Federer serves and volleys? That must be a figment of your imagination. Anyone who serves and volleys when playing Rafa just gets passed. Ask Federer how many games he won in the 2008 RG final when he tried to S&V against Rafa.

Rafa not playing Nick at exho. I don't think Rafa would be very happy with Nick after the recent comments Nick made about Rafa and uncle Toni (and Djokovic too). I wasnt a Nick fan to begin with and his outbursts are disrespectful and unprofessional, to say the least.

Offcourse it could also just be that their schedules did not meet or a coincidence that they aren't playing each other. I kinda doubt it though.

How similar are the grass courts of Mallorca with those of the All England Club?
The grass courts at the Santa Ponsa Tennis club in Mallorca should be quite similar to the courts of the All England Club.
The WTA website says: ¤¤ In 2016, Mallorca will join Birmingham in the second week of the three week grass court swing, resulting in five WTA grass court tournaments in the lead-up to Wimbledon. The construction and maintenance of the courts will be done in collaboration with The All England Lawn Tennis Club, which has been a prime supporter in the project. ¤¤
