The wedding will take place this Saturday.
Rafa is going to play at the Paris Masters. It means that he won't go on his honeymoon immediately after the wedding.
That doesn't make sense lol, he would have at least 8 days to go on a Honeymoon if he wanted. Practice isn't THAT important.

Practice in Mallorca

October 18, 2019

Rafa is practicing with two academy players (Pedro Vives Marcos, b. 2001, from Spain and Barney Fitzpatrick, b.2002, from Great Britain):

Holy bombshells! That is amazing hitting from Rafa. Look at that dip on the ball and the bounce after. You have to play tennis to actually really appreciate that forehand. That is one gorgeous forehand. Thanks for sharing @octobrina10

Agreed.

He’s looking as sharp (hitting wise) as he was prior to the AO earlier this year.

I’m liking what I’m seeing.

Coach Francisco Roig and Rafa's long time doctor Ángel Ruiz-Cotorró

Feli Lopez (why is he hauling his tennis racquets around with him? :D )

Marc Lopez (driving Rafa's Astin Martin for the weekend. :) )

Richard Milles (maker of Rafa's famously expensive watch), Rafa's agent Carlos Costa and his wife.

Albert Costa (with Carlos Costa and Dr Cotorro

Manuel Piñera Gil-Delgado, fabulously rich entrepreneur and close friend of King Juan Carlos

Jordi 'Tuts' Robert, Rafa's Nike rep and close pal of Rafa's dad.

Hope the other guests can make it to the grande party as there's lots of civil unrest going on in Barcelona and it's disrupting flights in and out of the airport. :censored:

The buses transporting the guests to the wedding are on their way. Woo!! Rafa Nadal's uncles, along with their families, have boarded a minibus that takes them from the academy to La Fortaleza. This is Toni, Miguel Ángel and Rafel Nadal.

Here's a link to a site that's live blogging the action. https://www.ultimahora.es/noticias/sociedad/2019/10/19/1114597/directo-boda-rafa-nadal-maria-francisca-perello.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

Edited to add a couple more pictures of Rafa's uncles boarding the buses.

Hmm. Wonder why Charly Moya is getting such special treatment. :p

The beginning of the wedding will be at 12.30 pm. The arrival of King Juan Carlos is expected at 12.15. He will arrive by car. He and Carlos Moyà, Rafa Nadal's coach, are the only two guests who will enter by car and not by buses like the rest of the attendees.

(It's noon in Mallorca right now.)

The Kings arrive at La Fortalesa. Don Juan Carlos and Doña Sofia have arrived in a car and entered through the military base. Guess that was just tabloid gossip that they'd arrive by helicopter. Or maybe they traveled to the military base by helicopter. :sneaky:

Guess we're not going to get any pictures from the church service or the parties. When the guests got on their buses, they found these notes on their seats.

"We remind you that we'd like you to enjoy our wedding & it to be in the strictest privacy. When you arrive you'll find a locker so that you can leave your cell phones. Thank you very much: Maria Francisca and Rafael"

The paparazzi and tv are being stymied and are being held back from the wedding site. There hasn't been any new news from them for awhile. :( Oh well. There will be pictures soon enough. I just want Rafa and Mery to have the wedding of their dreams and to enjoy their day with family and friends.

Apparently the wedding's running late. The lastest news from a Spanish VBer.

The wedding ceremony was to begin at 12.30... The music is being provided by a small orchestral group.

Last to arrive were King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia, expected at 12.15, they were 15 minutes late.
They, the priest, and Charly Moya and his wife, were the only guests to enter Sa Fortalesa in a car..
Charly because he had just arrived back from a trip.

Another media blogger has announced In the vicinity of Sa Fortalesa, Rafa Nadal and Xisca Perelló are said to be sending an official photograph to the press. We look forward to it!

There are a bunch of (olderish) photos here of guests arriving. Click the arrow to work your way through them. Charly Moya looks like he arrived at the last minute in a bit of a frazzle. :giggle:

Hopefully they’ll at least release some photos from the official photographers.

It sounds like they planned a truly awesome wedding.

Big congratulations and blessings to Rafael and Xisca. :)

Wedding Day

Hola! magazine, Oct.10, 2019:
¤¤ Rafa Nadal's heart is "torn" on his wedding day

Rafa Nadal and Mery Perelló are getting married this Saturday, October 19. The wedding date coincides with the match between two favorite football teams of the tennis player: Real Madrid and RCD Mallorca. The match will start at the Son Moix stadium [in Mallorca] at 9:00 p.m.

Rafa has to choose between watching one of the most anticipated matches of this season or enjoying his wedding in the company of his guests.

Rafa is an avid Real Madrid fan and has great friends at RM. Whenever he can, he goes to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium [in Madrid] to cheer on RM, and he pays close attention to the news about the team. On the other hand, RCD Mallorca is the team of his home-island and the club, where his uncle Miguel Ángel Nadal played. How will Rafa "survive" this special match on his wedding day? ¤¤ (Via Google Translate)

MARCA: "This is the first meeting between the football clubs in 7 years."

If this is true, and Nadal really does feel 'torn' then it's extremely pathetic and sad. Ffs this is your wedding day. I would imagine a sports match wouldnt be on top of his priorities for the day.

Not the best picture but it looks like Rafa is enjoying himself. :)

This is dated 2017? Was it Pico's own wedding?

Who's the Best Man and the Bridesmaid ?
Apparently it's different in Spanish weddings - the bride and groom each have several people who act as witnesses instead of best man and bridesmaid. It sounds more like a civil marriage ceremony in the UK, but Rafa and Mery's was a religious one, so I'm not sure.

Wedding Day

Ultima Hora News, October 20, 2019:
(Via Google Translate, excerpts)
¤¤ All the details of Rafa Nadal and Maria Francisca Perelló's wedding

Rafael Nadal and Maria Francisca Perelló got married on Saturday in front of almost 250 guests at a religious ceremony held outdoors in La Fortalesa.

Several professional photographers immortalized the whole day.

A music quartet enlivened the wedding ceremony, which took place without incident.
The ceremony was conducted in Mallorquín [it's the Mallorcan variety of Catalan] by Tomeu Catalá, a Catholic priest, who also spoke in Castilian [aka Spanish] for the benefit of the many guests who were not from the island. Young people close to the couple did the readings. The readings were taken from the "Letter to the Romans", customary for weddings. The couple said 'I do' [in Mallorquin] loud and clear.

The wedding celebration after the ceremony had an eminently Mediterranean character.
As usual in this type of celebration, it was quiet at the beginning, but little by little, especially after the sunset, the environment began to 'unclog' thanks to the participation of the Rafael Nadal's friends, who were seconded in their chants and dances by some of Rafael's most lively tennis playing colleagues, such as 'Pico' Monaco and the Mallorcan Jaume Munar, while others, like David Ferrer, were quieter.

To end the night all guests received a personalized (with guest names) anti-hangover kit with instructions on how to help survive the next day.
The first guests left La Fortalesa at sunset. ¤¤

This is a photo of the wedding venue, but it wasn't taken during Rafa' s wedding:

It's bizarre that they didn't release a single pic for the fans. I saw so many excited Rafa fans on twitter yesterday. Personally I am not that much into his private life, so I don't really care either way but I am sure this blackout must have left many fans disappointed. Just one pic of the couple would have been good enough.
