I agree.
Rublev is the guy you don't want to play at a slam (unless its in the Final) because he'll wear you out, similar to Diego.
But he's ideal to begin the year with to shake off your rust.

Rafa - a Businessman

La Razón, a Spanish daily newspaper based in Madrid, writes that next week, Rafa will travel to Marbella (a coastal city in southern Spain) to sign a contract for the purchase of land to build a tennis club on.
I'm not sure, this info is correct. He has another business in Marbella. This summer, the investment company owned by two Spanish businessmen and Rafa (33%), bought 50,000 square meters of land in Marbella to build luxury single-family villas on. The land is situated next to the estate of the Abu Dhabi royal family.

Rafa's Health

Rafa was interviewed at the COPE Mallorca awards ceremony on Monday evening. Excerpts from COPE's article (Rafa's qoutes were translated from Spanish by Genny SS):

¤¤ Rafa Nadal was excited about his likely return to the court at the Abu Dhabi exhibition in two weeks [17& 18 December]. At least it's a plan, as he explained at the Cope Awards Gala: "As I said some weeks ago, my idea is to play in Abu Dhabi, and that's still my plan. However, things are being analyzed week by week, as always, keeping in my mind that I want to return as early as possible, but above all I want to return being in good shape."

Rafa on his level when he returns: "You don't know until you increase the load and test yourself at the highest level. For now, I'm doing what I have to do right now, what I've been told. I'm usually quite obedient and what I'm told to do is what I do. I'm currently in that process. Things are better than before, otherwise I wouldn't consider going to Abu Dhabi. But I don't know what will happen in the future. Abu Dhabi is a test for me and I'm motivated to be there." ¤¤

Interview

Today, Rafa gave an online interview to Movistar, the largest pay TV provider in Spain and the title sponsor of his academy.
He basically repeated what he said in the interview at the COPE Mallorca awards ceremony on Monday.

Excerpts translated by Genny SS:
Rafa: "Sincerely, I'm training a lot, in all aspects I can. I think I'm taking steps forward. Though we still have to wait a little more, my roadmap's still the same. That is, my hope is to be in Abu Dhabi on the 17th & 18th to play those 2 exho matches and test myself to see how the foot responds and also to see how I feel myself. After that, it'll be the time to take decisions. But I think the last few weeks have been positive and the goal is to return as soon as possible but without making mistakes. The most important thing is to feel that my foot is OK, so that I can train and compete. I'm aware that even if my foot is OK, comebacks after a long lay-off are difficult and this will also be so, no doubt about it. But I have the excitement & motivation to try to be back at the highest level and, if it takes a bit longer, we'll just have to be patient & work for it."

Wikipedia: "Movistar is a major telecommunications provider owned by Telefónica, operating in Spain and Hispanic American countries. It is the largest provider of landline, broadband, mobile services and pay television (Movistar+) in Spain."

Vamos Rafa!

Any details on when Rafa might be in Australia? Does anyone know is there anything about being there by a certain time? Or do fully vaccinated players just fly in at normal/when it suits them if you follow me?

The Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre in Mexico will host the inaugural International Children's Tennis Coaches Conference from 9 - 11 December. Around 80 coaches from all over the world are expected to participate in the conference either virtually or in person. The event will take place at the Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres Resort & Spa complex housing the tennis centre.

The RN Tennis Centre is located in Costa Mujeres, about 30 minutes drive away from the city of Cancun on the northeast coast of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, in the resort complex containing two beachfront resorts (Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres Resort & Spa and TRS Coral Hotel) that are adjacent to each other. The tennis courts are available to hotel guests and local people of all ages and levels.

The resort complex belongs to Palladium Hotel Group, a Spanish hotel chain owned by Rafa's longtime business partners. Rafa hinted in his interview in January 2020 that he's part owner of the complex. Rafa inaugurated the Tennis Centre and attended the Grand Opening Party of the resort complex in February 2019.
