All in all, despite the unfortunate injury, Nadal looked better off the ground than any player at Wimbledon.

His backhand even looked better than that of any player in the tournament which is something I had been discussing as far back as the middle of Roland Garros where I felt it was not being given enough credit on here, even in this thread. That really bolsters his options.

His foot is far less of an issue which has gone under recognized. That was very far from a sure thing. And Nadal is hungry for more and knows he has a way to achieve it.

All in all, any fan has to be very encouraged by all this.

I’m glad you could see it too. His all court game was impressive and he himself was pleased with his level he said. Without that injury, I was confident he was more than capable of winning WB.
He clearly aims to keep going and if his foot is now under control as it appears to be, there’s no reason why he can’t be back very soon and contending for titles as he hopes to.

What hurts is that I couldn’t compete in a privileged situation because I was playing well and in the semi-finals of a tournament as important as Wimbledon,” Nadal said after landing in Barcelona on Friday.

“In the end, there is nothing left but to look forward and have a positive attitude.

“You know what’s up, but you always want to play and try to the end. I am a fairly calm person and I try to analyse things with perspective, looking for the logical and rational part.”

He was playing so well and much better than Novak from the baseline. He definitely had a great chance to win this Wimb.

Feel so gutted that he had to withdraw. Also it kind of came out of the blue as he seemed physically fine till the Fritz match.

Hope he can finish the year with a win at the USO.

Rafa was wearing tape on his abdominal muscle since at least his R2 match, but he didn’t want to talk about that at his press conferences.

Luigi Gatto is not a reliable source. I don't think LG knows when is her birthday. People have written on the Internet for years that her birthday is on July 7, but she said in one interview that it's not true, but she didn't reveal when it is. Also, LG just assumes that she will give birth to a baby in October.
Thanks for that. Noted! (y)

He is a true gentleman. I have always been a Federer fan, but over years Rafa has totally earned my admiration. He is a truly inspiring person with great values. For my kids who like tennis and sport in general, he his such a great model. Wish you the best, Rafa!

Saw this on YouTube, as a current USO practice, but haven't seen news he is already there. However, the struggle looks real working through the ab issue. Anyone confirm Nadal is in NY already? Or was this a previous year?

EDIT: Nevermind, this looks like a past video just posted to try and get views.

Rafael Nadal Fans: "In case you didn’t know/notice, Rafa is wearing Crabsturtle swim shorts. His sister Maria Isabel [Maribel] is one of four founders of Crabs Company, which arose from a passion for Mallorca and the dream of a group of young adults who set themselves a complex but captivating mission; to embody one of the seasons, summer, in a line of clothing."

Nice to see him having fun!! Anyone know when he will start his HC practice?

He has to make the most of the form he is in and win the USO. I think he is currently playing at the level he was in 2019 and should definitely have a great shot at USO if fit.

I hope his game translates well to the newer US Open surface, I don't think he's played on it yet. It's not DecoTurf anymore..

Yeah thats right. From what I understand the new surface is faster. I think he will adapt and he has himself said that he prefers fast HC over slow HC these days as he looks to finish points quicker.

Hope he starts his preparations soon.

He did say he should be able to practice groundstrokes after a week, so probably once he gets back from Formentera. It will take a bit longer before he can serve, as the tear needs to heal.

I was certain that Rafa would get the 23rd there. Too bad the injury had to happen.

Rafa (& his friends) went to Maluma's concert held at Pacha nightclub in Ibiza. That's were they met the singer. Rafa enjoyed himself with his friends in the VIP booth.
