Video of Rafa with his trophy... he's giving it to his uncles and Toni, sitting next to other uncles Miguel Angel and Rafael is holding it up. [all of them played] results show Rafa at #1, former tennis player Kiefer at 10, Miguel Angel at 15, Rafael at 33, Toni at 35 out of 51 participants. individual scorecards not available
can see his dad, mom and a smiling Mery as well

Rafa had scored a 35 (Stableford scoring) which translates to 1 over par. Course par was 71, he shot a 72.
must have been pleased with that result.

USO Jr champ is Rafael Jodar from Spain... he says he was named after his dad, grand dad, great g dad but of course he loves Rafa who is his idol

Rafa & Sponsor - Telefonica/Movistar

Rafa attended the inauguration of Telefonica/Movistar’s renovated headquarters in Madrid on Thursday night. He was accompanied by his agent Carlos Costa and father.

The headquarters building houses the largest Movistar store in Spain, a movie theater, a TV studio, recording studios, a gaming space, a café and more.

Telefonica is a Spanish multinational telecommunications company that operates under several brands, among them Movistar in Spain and about 15 Hispanic American countries. The Movistar brand has been the main sponsor of Rafa’s academy since the latter was founded. Rafa became a Telefonica global brand ambassador in 2014, signing a sponsorship agreement that was extended in October 2020 for another five years. Telefonica also supports his foundation.

Lovely Rafa mural... hit the side arrows

total statement:
“Right now I'm not in a position to win anything. I said that I would play until the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and then we would see, and I am in that time of rest. Mentally, I am well. Zero problems physically too. I'm at home enjoying other things and training what I can daily. These are the decisions that are being made and it was a possibility. I haven't competed for a while. There will be another player who would play better."

"Not in a position to win anything" and "zero problems physically" doesn't make sense. Nadal's 2024 PR has been one of mixed messages, which is very unlike him career wise. After pulling out of the Laver Cup, is that it for 2024 now?

it means he's spraying/shanking now and felt it was not good enough for a match with other pros.

good to know there is no injury. he won a golf tourney of 51 participants just 4 days ago and looked very sheerful

in a month, there is the 6 kings saudi exho... we'll see if we get training videos

Nadal needs consistent play, a full clay season in 2025 to be in-form and regain his confidence too...
He's nowhere near ready, as we saw at the Olympics and even in Sweden when he won matches but lacked confidence to win easily.
Being physically healthy is only a small part of it, as we saw in 2015 when he was healthy but no form or confidence.
He did win 4 of the last 6 games of his Djokovic match at the Olympics, so the talent is still there!

Due to a thunderstorm on Saturday afternoon, 15 teams couldn’t finish the competition, they will continue playing on 26 October. The current tournament leader in the handicap category is the team that includes Rafa’s uncle Rafael Nadal Homar, followed by the Rafa Nadal Academy team that includes Rafa and his uncle Miguel Angel Nadal Homar, a former pro fooballer.

Rafa is in the first place in the scratch category and in 6th place in the handicap category among 124 golfers who have finished the tournament, but the Hexagonal-Cromia golf circuit is a series of team-based tournaments, where golfers don’t receive individual awards.

Final update for the golf tourney. 124 participants, 3 different rounds, w/each player playing just 1 round. Rafa beat everyone with his 73 (35 Stableford).

That's the scratch scoring, meaning actual scores not adjusted for HC. He was also 1 of a few who tee'd off from the pro tees. he chose to tee off from the pro tee (meaning longer yardage to the holes). it was strategic. Normally, his scratch or better HC doesn't help the team at all in the HC scoring because it's difficult for him to shoot much better than par or +maybe 1 or 2 below par. The ones who usually win the HC scoring are folks who have high handicaps but have a good day on the course, so the adjustment gives them the HC win. With HC's, a player has their World HC and then a course HC which is assigned by the tourney and +rated according to the difficulty of the course. Because Rafa chose the pro tee, he was assigned a HC of 2 even though his actual HC is .6. So in the HC scoring, he got a 2 stroke adjustment which allowed him to place tied for 3rd in the HC scoring. Very strategic.

New Book About Rafa

A new book about Rafa will be released in France on October 18, 2024. The book written by two French sports journalists, Fabrice Abgrall and François Thomazeau, is titled “RAFAEL NADAL, LE PLUS GRAND DE TOUS LES TEMPS(In English: “Rafael Nadal, the greatest of all time.”).

GYlDh7KXoAAHvke

PRESS AGENCE, Sept. 27, 2024, Paris (an excerpt translated from French via Google):
¤¤ Nadal, the greatest of all time, in bookstores October 18

Over time, Rafael Nadal has managed to win the hearts of the French.

For more than twenty years at Porte d'Auteuil [the area where the Roland-Garros complex is located], he gave his all until he broke down.

The 14 titles he won at Roland Garros have made Nadal a unique player in the history of this tournament, a record that will be difficult to beat.

As the end of his career approaches, this book pays tribute to the fabulous destiny of the young Mallorcan.

After hesitating between a football career and the one we know him for, Rafa Nadal is nonetheless a complete athlete.

In this book, we have given a voice to all those who crossed his path, on and off the courts. Many testimonies that paint a portrait of an extraordinary champion who can be called "the greatest of all time" without risking flattery.

Fabrice Abgrall, the voice of tennis at Radio France, and François Thomazeau, another great sports journalist, have been following him since his beginnings. Abgrall had the good idea, a few years ago, to write down all the player's post-match statements in small notebooks, but also those of his opponents as well as privileged observers. Taken in the heat of the moment, these comments shed light today on the personality of this great champion.

He has not always been unanimous, has created some enemies, and has ultimately left an indelible mark on his sport.

This unique book, embellished with choice photos, evokes the story of this champion with 22 Grand Slam titles in a new and original way through the eyes of others and the many speeches that accompany it. ¤¤
