Best decision ever. He'll come back fresh and win Us Open.

It would just be nice to see him come back fresh whenever he is able. Not worried about USO in particular personally. Although it is an interesting move in the sense that a lot of the tour will be super burnt out after all of the travel/play for Wimbledon-Olympics-Toronto-Cincy. So maybe he'll be ready to take advantage. But it wouldn't surprise me if we see him next in Australia.

No way he skips Us Open. Only if he's injured.

Sounds like the foot was not ready for rigorous play so soon. Rafa will rest up and come back recharged, for the USO.

It was good to see and hear him yesterday. He's in good spirits!
Vamos Rafa! Love you!

They'd have given him a tough draw and put him for SF with Djoko for Wimby too.
At RG it was clear they hoped the tough draw would make him arrive tired for the SF and even if he wins, @21 would have been difficult.

Proud of how Rafa handled Sinner, Diego etc. If the SF had been scheduled 1st or the 1st SF finished earlier, Rafa would have had a decent chance in the sun.
Anyway, Rafa has risen from similar bad circumstances before and he'll definitely bite big trophies!

Semi-Pro
This is unfortunate for Rafa, but completely understandable and acceptable. He has sacrificed his body, and I fear like others that have prolonged athletic careers and injuries, he will pay a heavy price as time goes on. He needs to protect himself at this point, at all costs. Good decision.

RAFAEL NADAL'S DECISION TO MISS WIMBLEDON, OLYMPICS PART OF LARGER GAMBIT TO PROLONG CAREER

"Better to see Nadal a little less often, than to see him going at anything less than full blast. Rafa wouldn’t be Rafa if he couldn’t play every point as if it were his last. "

Thank goodness for Monse. She spends so many hours giving us these translations. God love her!

Monse does give translations but she gives a lot of misinfo and misrepresents the role of Moya in rafa's success.

If you see some of her tweets, she claims Moya set the path for Rafa's career to win slams, become #1.

She even claimed Rafa's granny is Moya's fan and scolded Rafa for winning his 1st match against Moya when Rafa was 16 yrs old. Turns out the scolding was real but the reason was that the granny felt it was impolite of 16 yr old Rafa to beat the guy who had trained with him.

Monse keeps ranting about how her angel Moya feels hurt when Rafa is not playing well and how he sits around stoically. Hello. Moya is being paid for being the coach and he is Director at the academy as well! And Loya's hangdog defeatist attitude courtside does nothing to energize rafa

Monse is a Moya fan and bends everything to that narrative. Just my take on this, quite OK if you feel otherwise:)

Oh, she's more than a fan, she's an obsessed fanatic of Charly, oftentimes an unhealthy obsession. But her heart is in the right place and I just laugh at her fanaticism sometimes. :) I also appreciate how she digs and finds every scrap of information there is out there about Charly and for now, the info is mostly about Rafa and so she translates and passes all of it on to us. She keeps us informed about a lot of things we'd never catch as we don't speak Spanish so for that I'm grateful. I have no problem skipping over the Charly worship and just appreciating the Rafa stuff. :giggle:

Yes, her spiraling is quite scary. And Moya is DMing her, follows her and is answering some tweets.... not very healthy in this case, though it's probably flattering for him.
I feel https://twitter.com/genny_ss is a more reliable source for Rafa translations. So is https://twitter.com/_rafaholic:)

Just came here to post this interview but you beat me to it. :p I like this interview. I like what Charly has to say. (y) The whole interview, 9+ minutes is at the Instagram link in her tweet and Charly had more to say than just the twitter interview.

Nadal is planning on playing Canada and Cincy according to Carlos Moya

"Es un torneo [USO] que históricamente se le ha dado muy bien, le gusta mucho el ambiente que se vive allí y esperamos que sea un torneo ya casi sin restricciones. La idea es competir en los dos Masters 1000 previos, como son Canadá y Cincinnati"

"It's a tournament [USO] where historically he's done well, he really likes the atmosphere and we hope it will be a tournament with almost no [COVID] restrictions. The plan is to play in the two Masters 1000 ahead of it, which are Cananda and Cincinnati"

One of the (many) reasons I adore Rafa. As rich and famous as he is, he seems so normal and down to earth, partying with friends he's had since he was a very young kid, golfing, night clubbing, boating, jet skiing, laughing and thoroughly enjoying the life he's made for himself. No names mentioned but he seems so much happier than the scrawny screamer in the corner drinking spinach juice. :p

Some more yacht pics.... bit too intrusive . Let me know if we should not be posting such paparazzi stuff
Don't bother me. I feel badly that he can't have a fun day without the intrusion of the paparazzi but they're going to be out there anyway so it doesn't help anything if we refrain from posting them here.
