I'll be a bit honest but him winning off clay now won't be easy but if he is fit and some luck with draw can maybe sneak a major off clay
Luck? Draw?
You couldn't be more wrong.
Nadal won 2 of the last 3 US Opens before covid (and made the SF in 2018 and retired), and won the last 2 Canada Masters before covid too.....he's better suited to hardcourt now than any other stage of his career.
He also played a higher level of tennis than Djokovic at this year's AO, which he can definitely win.
Nadal is finishing the points quicker than ever, and that is why he's more suited to hardcourt (and the fast clay of 2020 Roland Garros) than ever before.....because faster conditions accommodate his game....

I think he is 35+ now so don't expect such things when he is old and next gen is on the up. His vest chance at Rg without any doubt but can be a contender elsewhere if Fully fit

You are probably one of the people who thought he'd never win another US Open in 2016.....only to find he won 2017 and 2019 US Opens, and only lost 2018 because of injury.
Comparing Nadal to other players of his age.....is a meaningless exercise, because he's the first player of his type, so there are no precedents to guide you.

And no matter how well Zverev or Medvedev play, we are not in a strong era, because Djokovic has declined heavily.....so heavily that he almost lost a 98 minute set to foot-injured-Nadal at Roland Garros.
Nadal had a back injury and still almost beat the best version of Tsitsipas at the AO this year.....in fact Nadal almost won that in straight sets.

We know Nadal doesn't need to be healthy to win Roland Garros (we saw this year he was playing well enough to beat Djokovic, certainly to lead 2-sets-to-1), but if Nadal is healthy he can win the AO and USO.
And Wimbledon is weaker than ever, so anything is possible there.

Considering Rafa has only won the Australian Open once in his entire career (12 years ago) and was soundly thrashed in his last final appearance at start of 2019, i would not say Rafa looks good to win another Australian open, especially as he is older and has lost a wee bit of stamina and speed over last 2-3 years.

A fit Rafa may have a decent shot at the US open next year but from 2023 onwards i would say his chances of winning are really low. I would also be stunned if he wins another Wimbledon as everything would have to go his way for that to be possible.

I do think he can win 2022 and possibly even 2023 French open but again not as confident as i would have been 12 months ago. Time catches up with everyone and surely some of other top players should be realistically thinking he is no longer unbeatable at RG.

What if Rafa plays pain/injury free for the next 2 years? I will so settle for that.
Watchi Indian Wells and the rank rubbish on display Rafa should be thinking CYGS. Only actual threats to him on any surface if fit are Djokovic (who might be gassed mentally) Federer if in the zone and Zverev.
a 2 slam season should be a realistic expectation next season.

That would be nice. I think his career could be longer if he doesn't feel constant pain.
That said, why do we think this is the case? Is there a chance that whatever medical treatment he did completely cured his foot defect?

Nadal will be thrashed at the AO again if he has ankle surgery and is not allowed to have full practice sessions, yes-

"....because of the things that happened to me in terms of surgery, then what happened in Abu Dhabi, I was not able to work that much the defensive game. I worked a lot on the offensive game, but not that much on the defensive game.
To play against a player like him, playing the way he played tonight, I needed that defensive game to finally have the chance to be offensive, no?"
https://ausopen.com/articles/interviews/rafael-nadal-f-interview

The fact he also won 18 sets in a row that year, shows you he's a pure genius and very capable of winning the AO again.
Also, Nadal's game is more suited to hardcourt now than ever before.

It doesn't matter how many times we repeat the scenario of Rafa's state of recovery during the AO, some people just don'twant the facts to get in their way.

Team Nadal think exactly this. His game is right there. That back injury at start of the year was a nightmare as it caused him to compensate his movement which then led to the foot issue. he would have won FO W and Uso this season but for the back and foot problems although i think he would have lost AO final to Djokovic.
No reason to not think Nadal can win majors next year.

The foot issue became a problem due to his back. He was tryig to compensate for the back problem which put the stress onthe foot which he has an issue from birth. Rafa needed some time off and a proper training bloc.
If fit he will win at least 2 Majors next season. His game is right there.

Rafa's New House

As written earlier, Rafa is building his own seafront house in his hometown of Porto Cristo (a small coastal town located within the Manacor municipality, 13.8 km / 8.6 miles from the centre of Manacor).

A new picture of the construction site (screenshot):

He bought the property at the beginning of 2013. It consisted of an old family house, secondary houses and a big yard, but he demolished all the buildings. He showed the property Jon Wertheim (who interviewed Rafa for 60 Minutes) in December 2019, when he hadn't yet started building his house:

Rafa - a Businessman

Rafa attended the presentation of two new venues of the TATEL restaurant chain - in Beverly Hills (Los Angeles County) and Bahrain - held at TATEL Madrid on Tuesday afternoon.
TATEL Beverly Hills was opened a month ago, TATEL Bahrain is not yet open.

The man in the last picture is Spanish basketball star Rudy Fernandez, a co-owner of the Tatel restaurant chain:

Rafa gifted Babolat racquets signed by himself to his new business partners; the man with a beard and wearing a suit (poses on the left) is a Spanish businessman who owns 1/3 of Mabel Capital (Rafa also owns 1/3 of it):

The Tatel restaurant chain was created in 2014 in Madrid by two Spanish businessmen and Rafa within Mabel Hospitality, which is a subsidiary of Mabel Capital, the investment company owned by the two Spanish businessmen and Rafa (33%). The new Tatel restaurant in Beverly Hills (Los Angeles County) that was opened last month is the 4th location for Tatel. Mabel Hospitality launched restaurant Tatel at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Miami at the beginning of 2017, but Hurricane Irma damaged the hotel in September of the same year and they haven't reopened the restaurant.
Currently, Mabel Hospitality co-owns and operates restaurants Tatel in Madrid, Ibiza and Beverly Hills. The three aforementioned persons own Tatel restaurants in partnership with multiple stars: Spanish basketball stars Pau Gasol (retired this month ) & Rudy Fernandez, Portuguese football icon Cristiano Ronaldo, Spanish motorcycle racer Joan Mir, who was crowned the 2020 MotoGP world champion, and Spanish-American singer Enrique Iglesias, who was recognized as the "Top Latin Artist of All Time" at the 2020 Billboard Latin Music Awards.

Especially if Novak isn't at the AO
Not buying into the Novak fake stance over AO 2022. I would love to be proved wrong on the other hand a face up between him and a fit Rafa would be welcomed. Either way he will lose credibility because he would have taken the vaccine despite all his hot air. I'm sure he'll try and wriggle out of that by saying he didn't say he wouldn't take it but that it's a private matter. Eventhen, it would cease to be a private matter once he told the AO that he has been vaccinated.

I'm looking forward to the drama of how it all pans out.
