Rafa Nadal Foundation

Rafa’s foundation was awarded by employees of Spain’s largest bank Santander for carrying out its project for social inclusion of vulnerable minors through sport and education. The initiative of Santander is titled “Euros from your salary.”
The award ceremony was held with the presence of Spain’s Queen Letizia in Madrid today (Tuesday). Rafa’s sister Maribel attended the ceremony and received the award on behalf of the foundation.

The Santander website: ¤¤“Euros from your salary” is an initiative that brings together employees at Santander España and the Corporate Centre. It [in 2022] finishes another edition full of projects to help those most vulnerable.
This year we’re celebrating the 14th edition of “Euros from your salary”, an initiative that reminds us that solidarity is a value of Santander’s workforce in Spain. Through this initiative employees donate part of their salary and the bank matches their contribution to raise funds for social projects. …
Then, a committee formed by people from the Group's divisions and companies selected 32 finalists, which 3,572 employees voted for online to name the 12 winners.
The money raised this year for the Euros from your salary fund will help over 300,000 people through 12 winning projects, each of which will get €44,759.¤¤

Of course you never know what could happen or how a baby could shift a mindset but what Rafa said earlier in the year was,

"I'm here because I want to and I can," Nadal was quoted as telling press in Acapulco following a first-round win. "I like to compete, I've played quite a lot for many years.

"If I reduce my schedule any more, I won't be a tennis player."

I think Rafa will play Paris+WTF if he is fit. Pure speculation admittedly.

Spanish marine ecologist Carlos Manuel Duarte visited Rafa’s sports centre/academy and discussed important environmental issues with Rafa:

Rafa’s sports centre/academy is environmentally friendly, it's powered by its own renewable energy provided by the solar panels installed on the roof on the new indoor facility:

Running in Australia since 2019, it has a strong focus on sport and education combining the tournament aspect with dynamic and fun educational activities (classroom and physical). The Rafa Nadal Academy aims to share with the players their rationale and to establish strong fundamental values, which involves teaching and working towards the four main pillars of the tour, which have been updated for 2022/3.”

“The winners enjoy a very special prize: a stay at the Rafa Nadal Academy! Two weeks full of activities and tennis training.”

Uncle Toni wired him to think he needs a lot of time on court to be competitive, funny how that is not accurate, but it speaks to the Nadal's stoic philosophy on tennis and life in general.
I think Rafa just likes to be active. He says he's not one for sitting on the couch watching TV. I wish he wouldn't practice so much because that wears his body down as well.

As an amateur who plays only 2 to 3 times a week, I can tell you that stopping for even a week is awful for the body, if you extrapolate my anecdotal evidence to the very elite everything is exponential, these guys go HARD, long periods of inactivity are actually dangerous since they can get injured when they return again, reason why they all take their time and practice for a long time before returning to competitive play once they are fully healed.

I don't think he should play Bercy. Inactivity is not good but his personal matter should be the priority now. Mery is about to give birth to their first child if I'm not wrong.
If you do the maths she must be due mid to late October time, so he may not be able to play. I would imagine he would like to play Paris as he wants the match play and the points but it will be dictated by when baby arrives. If she has issues they may bring baby on early. That’s my guess.

Rafa Nadal Foundation

The 9th edition of the Rafa Nadal Tour is coming to an end. The tour-ending Master Final will be held at Rafa's sports centre /academy in Manacor from 3 – 6 November.

The RN Tour is an annual junior tennis circuit for boys & girls under 16 years old in Spain. The circuit consists of tournaments taking place in different cities across Spain and is divided into three age groups: 12 & Under, 14 & Under and 16 & Under. The Tour was created by Rafa's foundation in 2014. Spain's leading insurance company, Mapfre, was the title sponsor of the Tour from 2014 to 2020. Since 2021, the Tour is sponsored by Banco Sandander, a Spanish multinational bank, which is also Spain's largest bank. Tournaments have been held in 4 - 10 cities each year and the tour-ending Master Final has been held at Rafa's sports centre /academy in Manacor. Winners in each age group will qualify for the Master Final. In addition, the winners of the "Values Trophy" will participate in the Final.

In 2022, tournaments have been hosted in 9 cities: Barcelona (twice), Gran Canaria, Sevilla, Girona, Almeria, Valencia, La Rioja, Madrid and Bilbao. The last tournament – the tour-ending Master Final - will be held in Manacor at the beginning of November.
