I dont know how many of you caught this, taken from his first round post match interview. At 5:10, a question was posted to him regarding unveiling his flat forehand now that he's serving relatively flatter. His response was like "that's almost impossible, just play with top spin but play very aggressive all the time".

I thought that was a pretty interesting comment. Thoughts?

He can flatten out his FH at will as he demonstrated against Lopez earlier this evening.

What he means is its impossible to just suddenly get a flat backhand, he can't just turn it on like a switch, because his technique is always accommodating topspin. So what he means is, the best he can do is play his topspin forehand with more aggression, not completely flatten it out. And that's what he's been doing, his forehand still has topspin on it.

man his backhand and serve especially were garbage compared to how they are now. he has improved alot sine then. but this prooves he can be very agressive with the forehand

For sure he can be aggressive with it. Seem's he started hitting it loopier in 2005 - his break out year, which is strange because I've always heard it said that the reverse forehand technique he usually hits with is a kink in his game from when he was young that was never ironed out. It just turned out to be one of the most beneficial technical deficiencies of all time. I'm not sure I believe that..

Anyone have video of how loppy his topspin forehand is? I would like to see how much high over the net the ball flies compared to other topspin player.
