Nadal not nominated for the Stefan Edberg Sportmanship Award???

Wow you *******s really can't see fault with Federer no matter what. Federer did nothing like that and no one has done anything to change my mind on that Fed is a good sport. You can tell just by his expressions that he is not a good loser. He starts whining about the Hawk eye, the lighting, the sun, and etc. The more he loses, the more he complains.

I can see fault, but I object when you look for fault in everything. What more do you want Federer to do? He spends more time than anyone else signing autographs for fans, he spends more time doing interviews, he does loads of charity work. I believe he even sent Rafa and James Blake cards when they were injured. Has Nadal had to deal with a defeat harder than Wimbly 08? Federer handled the situation with a lot of grace, no matter what you say. Sure, his comments in interviews can be a little frank, but what is the point of sugar-coating it? I watch Nadal interviews in English, and come away thinking that he literally hasn't said anything of substance. That isn't bad sportmanship. Its not like Fed directly insults people, and FYI, I've seen Rafa in matches refer to his opponents as SOBs, "hijo de una puta" (for instance in the AO 08 semi after a fluke-framed drop-volley from Tsonga) but I wouldn't even count that as particularly bad sportsmanship on his part. This is a sportsmanship award, and Nadal's service routine does him no favours in getting votes. If you think Nadal deserves a nomination, then why doesn't Federer?

EDIT: Bravo on dodging the question there.

Nothing wrong with his service routine. Yeah he's got some routines but they aren't really that bad. Haters on this board will make a big deal about every time Nadal blows his nose and drys off with a towel. Nothing bad enough to avoid not getting the Sportsmanship Award. One noticeable tantrum that happened 2 years ago shows how much he deserves this award.

Nothing wrong,? How would you know? Have you ever faced them? It is breaking the rules/borderline cheating. He wasn't even nominated, so he clearly doesn't deserve the award according to the voters. The people who his routine effects the most clearly feel it isn't sportsmanlike.

EDIT: To be fair, they aren't really comparable. NF has been posting for three years. He is bound to have a lot of posts.

What the hell? The most humble player, the guy that always praises and respects his opponents

Well, if his praise was sincere (instead of his programmed "this-is-the-right-thing-to-say" blather) perhaps he would be taken seriously for the award.

a true role model, is not nominated for the Sportmanship Award???

I did not know digging in one's ass was a good example to set.

Yet another proof of how much the ATP hates Nadal!!

Partisan screaming is not proof.

It's not because of too much emotion on court because Federer's emotion in Oz sure beats all form of emotions.

Peers blaming Rafa for taking too much time on court is like me blaming my colleagues for taking work away from me when my boss is the one doing it. I suppose they are tennis players....not intellectuals.

I don't believe Rafa deliberately takes time, he's just so into the moment.

honestly I do not understand why Nadal fans had to blame Federer (or the rest of the nominees) for not being nominated? It makes no sense to bash the nominees for being nominated though they didn't even ask for it.

I don't care, thhis year they're all over 28. It's the policy this year, I don't care what they did before.

What's the difference between the policy this year and the year before??? So you didn't care before but now you dyou because Nadal didn't even get nominated? Geez!

It can't be a coincidence that all the guys are that old. There's obviously a pattern unless you want to propose that everyone under 28 is a bad sport.

Noone has been blaming the nominees for anything. Some people have said some of the nominees didn't seem to deserve that award, that's different from blaming them.

We don't really know, can be coincidence or voting might be rigged. Again Federer won the award when he was 22. And there are also other players aside from Federer that won the award then they where below 30 years old.

For everyones reference.

Again Federer won the award when he was 22 (posted above) so age doesn't really matter, it how you carry your self on and off court.
I meant today's younger guys. Obviously, Federer knows (and knew even at 22) how to be a good sport or he wouldn't have won the award.

You for one didn't blame anyone, however others throw garbage here like it's a dump site. It's making me sick.

the pattern just so happens this year. if you could provide evidence that there's a trend going on in the last few years (e.g. giving out the nominees in the previous years, look at their ages and see if there's really a trend). otherwise there's nothing wrong with calling it just a coincidence.

What organisation on earth doesn't have "internal politics?"
I think there are many other players that could have been nominated.

The thing is, there are really only a handful of players who probably shouldn't be nominated for a sporstmanship award. The vast majority of players conduct themselves very well on court. So of course some are going to be left out.

True, but after Federer has won it 4 years in a row, (see the link) I think it's only fair that other's get it. And I'm not saying Nadal.

For sure! If we can only vote right? winning it 2 in a row is not bad but 4 times? I'm a Fed fan but hell are there any other players out there that plays fair?

They made Federer the winner of this clown award; believing he was the
true representation of tennis. Instead, he was a crybaby, spoiled brat who couldn't eat enough love candy.

So they are give this award to Federer because he is buying them lunches and getting them laid? Keep clinging to your delusion that there is some vast conspiracy against Nadal. It's getting amusing.

Lol at Federer being a locker room pimp.

well, let's give him a mother theresa award, the nobel peace prize, some new underwear and a frisbee. then maybe nadal fans will stop complaining ?

YOUR words Edmondson. No one said anything about lunches and getting laid. I have no idea what lovecandy is about anyway. Read ALL the posts before you judge a thread on a minority posts.

More than likely, Fed buys debentures. I'm not saying Fed bought an award. I'm saying internal politics easily steer "promotion." Look at the world around you.

But anyway ,I don't listen to your arguments because using "Nadal's lie on the floor "after the fantastic match with Versdasco is a poor attempt at nothing & your constant referral to groupies and Nadal fans is boring :)

it's really funny how the nadal fans are very touchy about these sort of things. like conspiracies, always giving nadal rigged draws, complaints about atp rules, hardcourt tournaments, etc. always making up stuff to up and up their hero. :p

They forgot to tell us that this award has been relabeled " The SNAG of the year award" . More crying = more votes. Fed to claim yet another Sensitive New Age Guy award. Hooray.
