One of my favourite Nadal stats was winning his career grand slam so young.
I believe he is the youngest male player ever to win CGS.
And when you look at those four major wins it’s interesting how epic each of those individual breakthroughs was:
2005 French Open - wins it on his first attempt
(this guy could end up being pretty good on clay).
2008 Wimbledon: A young man of 22 years old. Wins the final in 5 sets in dying dusk light against arguably the greatest grasscourter ever.
2009 Australian Open: Backs up a 5 setter vs Verdasco, one of the matches of the 2000s, to beat Federer in 5 in the final. We get the iconic trophy ceremony with Federer showing just how much tennis means to him and Nadal embracing him. Some of the rallies in this match are just timeless imo.
2010 U.S. Open: ServeDal! Rafa adds serve dominance to his arsenal and goes crazy for two weeks in New York in black and flouro volt kits. Some of his wackiest highlights ever come out of this tournament imo. That 360 half volley against Verdasco as an example.
