A fun clip from the Laureus Awards, 2011. Nadal & Kevin Spacey(one of my fav. actors) playing Table Tennis

During a point, Spacey tries to distract Nadal
Spacey: "C'mon. Look it's FEDERER!"
But he still loses the point. Then Rafa says
Rafa: "Not even like this!"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2kz9EEsCwE

I don't think that's quite what Rafa said. He was making a little fun of Federer and doing an imitation of Fed standing there with his hands on his hips after a missed shot and Rafa says 'no you look like this' meaning if you're Federer as you claim, this is how you should look. :)

Vive le beau jeu - Rafa personifies this with his beautiful moves. Talking about beautiful movement, RN stands for Rafael Nadal not for Rudolf Nureyev.

I've never seen such a fighter before in any sport throughout history.

Nadal fights through injury, adversity, overwhelming odds and presents a picture perfect representation of what a good sportsman should be.

Nadal wins the Laureus World Comeback of the Year

Congratulations to Nadal.

Tennis does very well at these awards. Federer has won the main award a record 4 times. The most of any athlete in the history of the world.

This is not required right now! If you see my OP, i've already mentioned Federer's incredible achievement!
You shouldn't be trying to push Federer's agenda even here.

This hasn't been announced yet. I'm watching the Awards.
But Vettel is only gonna be the winner most probably!

I have no idea what or where you were watching but I got this message at 14:52 UTC+2, a little over 1 hour ago. And it was push notification from a well known live ticker....

Congratulations to Nadal! Fully deserved after the dream like year he had last year. :)

Having won all three types of awards just shows how unique of a player he is.

Vettel also pipped tennis star Rafael Nadal to the main male prize, but the Spaniard did not go home empty-handed after he was named the comeback athlete of the year following a season that saw him win the French Open, US Open and return to world No. 1 during 2013.

"Everybody knows how much it means to me to receive this award," Nadal, who won the breakthrough award in 2006 and main prize in 2011, said via a recorded message. "After how it was the year before with my injury, I never thought I would be able to come back like I did.

"So winning this Laureus probably means more than the other ones."

Congratulations, Rafa! You so deserve it. You are a credit to sport in general and tennis in particular.

Nadal wins the Laureus World Comeback of the Year Award!

It's a great award, no doubt. But Sportsman of the year award is the highest honor.

1. Sportsman of the Year
2. Sportswoman of the Year
3. Team of the Year
4. Comeback of the Year
5. Sportsperson with a Disability
6. Breakthrough of the Year
7. Action Sportsperson

I would rank Lifetime Achievement Award as #3 but this year they don't hand out that award.:?

Man, what the heck is wrong with you?!
No one said anything about "rating" these awards. You are so freaking obsessed with Federer, that you just had to write such a post.

I shouldn't be amazed, because it's you after all. But still, i cannot believe that you're ranking the importance of these awards, just after Rafa has won one.
Pathetic!

Of course, Sportsperson of the Year award is THE main event. But it's commendable for Rafa to have won the Laureus in all the 3 categories, becoming the first sportsman in the Award's history.

If you had read my OP, you would have seen that i've mentioned Federer's record achievement there itself. Along with Djokovic & Murray's wins.

Kindly take you FedWorshipping to some other thread.
Thank you!

FedererWinsWimbledon2014,
Even though it's the Laureus World Sports Awards, we are not allow to bring up other players(Fed, Nole, Murray) that also have won these prestigious awards, because Nadal fans don't want to hear it.

Nobody in Nadal's shoes would want Sportsman Of The Year over Comeback Of The Year. Nadal now has yet another record that will never be broken. The only man ever to win all individual awards. Only an athlete who embodies EVERYTHING could do that.

Plus they gave Sportsman Of The Year to a car driver..... which shows that the award does not take into account athleticism or fitness. I'm not saying car drivers don't need to be fit, just that they don't need to be anywhere near as fit as athletes. I mean even a table tennis player has to be fitter, more athletic and more coordinated than a car driver. So is the Sportsman award worth anything? Nope. Whereas the Comeback award is indicative of the man.....the character.....the force of will.

A very sad state of affairs. It is a shame that Nadal fans fail to recognize the achievements of Roger, Nole and Andy.

Sadly Nadal fans show no respect for other players or past champions. For Nadal fans the whole of tennis is Nadal.

So, Nadal wins the award for Comeback of the Year and you come to talk about how Federer has 4 Sportsman of the Year awards? So, I guess Nadal's award doesn't mean much, huh? Very classy.

No, because it's nice to see past history that athletes have won these prestigious awards. Plus, Fed, Nole, Murray are tennis players(this is a tennis forum), no one is listing Tiger, Bolt or Schumacher.

You see it on TV all the time when a player win a slam, they listed the name of past slam champions, it doesn't mean they are cutting the current slam winner short.

Exactly, whenever Fed won his historic 5th Wimbledon in a row Borg was mentioned a lot. This was no insult to Fed.

Or how about the champions list at Wimbledon:

Champions and sport awards are greatly respected, but it has to reference to something, and that is the past great athletes that set their mark. Your Fed 12 W champion is an excellent example. Borg deserve the recognition too since he's the only player that have won 5 straight.

Guys, let's not hit back at them.

TMF is trying to act victimized, & saying that I'm not allowing him to talk about other players achievements. When I myself, in the 1st post in this thread, mentioned about Federer, Novak & Murray winning the Laureus award. That's a fact!
What was really immature on his part, was to "rate" the various Laureus awards, to try to diminish Rafa's win. No one said anything about which one is bigger or whatever. But he was clearly trying to blow Roger's trumpet.

Just don't retaliate back. We don't want any quarrels.
Nadal won, I'm very happy for him. Of course, Federer has won it a record 4 consecutive times & that's incredible as well.
Both are champions!

It won't make a difference to the race car driver whether we compliment him or not  He (Vettel) thinks too highly of himself as it is, and cares about nobody else. Here's an example of his 2013:

Webber and Vettel are Red Bull teammates. Webber was winning, Vettel was 2nd, and nobody was within earshot. The team told both drivers to slow down and stay in their places. Webber slowed down accordingly, and then Vettel charged at Webber and overtook him in the final lap to steal victory.

Vettel decided to be fair to the viewers, who payed to see a race and not a convoy.

Actually, Vettel is a man of the People.

Doesn't every Nadal fan stand for the honesty and the fight against the status quo?

I am guessing the Chico V FOD wars will be in full throttle again, especially now that we are entering the critical part of the season.
