I think Nadal will have a strong resurgence next year—he will probably bag a CYGS, maybe two (non-sequentially however) and probably a couple of rafa slams after. next year will be uber special, with the olympics on red hardcourts. Rafa is the best singles olympic gold champion, so that's in the bag as well. i think the courts sharing a similar color with clay courts will give rafa the edge.

It all depends on his approach to the injury that's going to allow him a hiatus.

Very interesting observations, and infallible logic. However, if we go by the past, he usually does not last a full year, so a CYGS is questionable. Even at his peak when he only had a weak Federer as his only competition (you know 23-10) he was unable to get the CYGS. Now in severe declension, with a resurgent Nole and a magnificent Murray, and a stupefying Stan, winning 4 in a row will be a tad too much to ask for the aging Nadal.

Nadal is now pretty much like Gloria Swanson in Sunset Blvd.

Valid points. i think what he should do is, instead one significant injury that gives hime a big chunk of time to rest, he should spread out his injuries into 3 smaller ones between majors. he can even get away with two small injuries— one between AO and RG with another between Wimbledon/Olympics and USO, that way he can get rest and avoid the hardcourt season as well. so a golden CYGS is still doable.

I agree for the most part. But i think Nadal would need to shift his attention to the Masters 1000s, win a couple of those and dominate Wozniacki style. I mean i can see the possibility of 250s and exhos taking over the sport (did you see the impressive draw at The Boodles?), but i think the tour is lacking someone to lead the trend, could rafa be that trailblazer that the game needs? like a bull on fire.

Therefore it stands to reason that since he won Stuttgart and Booples, therefore he is winning and playing well, and therefore his motivation to win Wimpledon is shot and he will now play badly.
