I know this is the former pro player section, but since most of the stats are here, I figured, it’d be better to post it here.
The biggest upset ever ?
Soderling kept pounding away at nadal and nadal was almost always on the defensive. Note the no of forehand winners for soderling and errors that he forced off nadal’s FH wing. The only real bad patch of play for soderling in the match was the 2nd set tie-break, which nadal won rather easily. Soderling forced a lot of short balls from nadal with his aggressive play, but even on some of the easier balls nadal was hitting short, he certainly was capable of playing better.
Oh and I didn’t notice when I saw it live, but I did it when I saw it this 2nd time : soderling threw the racquet he had used to win into the stands !!!
These are the stats:
The set3 stats they showed on screen tallied perfectly with what they showed on board. Otherwise, some minor discrepancies, 1 point here and there in every other set in one/more categories.
Nadal served at 92% in the 3rd set but still lost it by a break
At 5-4 to soderling in the 3rd, they flashed this stat:
Rallies won:
3 or less: Nadal 37, Soderling 37
4-8: Nadal 34, Soderling 45

Some differences:
The ATP and the RG site have soderling winning 143 points and nadal winning 128 points. I have them winning 141 and 127 respectively.
They have soderling at 61 W, I have him at 62 W ( there was one shot where nadal was at the net and barely managed to get his racquet on it, I put that as a winner, they probably put it as a forced error ).
I have nadal at 34 W, they have him at 33 (probably a difference in service winners I guess)
I have soderling making 58 UEs, they have him at 59 UEs.I have nadal making 31 UEs, they have him at 29 UEs
I have soderling 26/35 at the net, they have him at 27/35. I have nadal at 6/12, they have him at 6/11
Edit: They have nadal at 28 UEs, not 29.
