According to Tennis View magazine (and who doesn't diligently read it?), the greatest one is opening a tennis center. Quick facts:

In Manacor
Called Centre Tenis y Padel
For juniors 8 to 17
Schooling area (for the juniors, not for Fed......... sorry couldn't resist it)
Indoor and outdoor courts
Gym
Swimming pool
Collaboration with city
Total cost is $25 million
Nadal chipping in 5%
In-house proctology clinic

True to his home. Not a tax exile.

Rafa's Tennis & Padel Center was founded in his hometown in August this year:

This Center is meant even for children under 5 years old

Wikipedia: ¤¤ Padel is typically played in doubles on an enclosed court about half the size of a tennis court. Scoring is the same as normal tennis and the balls used are similar but with a little less pressure, the main differences are that the court has walls and the balls can be played off them in a similar way as in the game of squash and that solid, stringless racquets are used. The height of the ball being served must be at or below the waist level. The sport was invented in Acapulco, Mexico, by Enrique Corcuera in 1969. It is currently most popular in Hispanic American countries such as Argentina and Mexico as well as in Spain, although it is now beginning to spread rapidly across Europe and other continents. ¤¤

He's not opening it, he will just chip in 5% (and in return the city council can use his name and put his logo on the facilities' water reservoir).

Tennis & Padel Center?

They have the "a" and "e" around the wrong way, methinks.

 at in-house proctology clinic.

And he's chipping in 5 percent? Who's paying the rest?

Thanks for the thread, bionic man.

the spanish government obviously..

the spanish govt is known to do some of the dumbest things ever.. building airports in ghost towns where no one lives.. building huge railway stations just because it is the home village of some stupid minister..

just the citz hall of valencia has more cars and service people than the parliament of england.. that is spain for you..

now you know why it went bankrupt.. with govt spending money like that and people like nadal not paying taxes..

And who's paying for your existence?
Anyone who ever meets you methinks.....

Ouch.
You left me in ruins there, mate.

Shouldn't you be commentating on tennis rather than making inane posts that just make you look dumb?

Nadal (on the phone): "I can deduct the 5% on the tax, no?"

Spanish Tax Office: "Of course, as soon as you pay your 2003-13 ta----"

This week, Rafa signed an agreement with a manufacturer of architectural products.

Cosentino, October 28, 2014: ¤¤ The Cosentino Group enters into a collaboration agreement with tennis player Rafa Nadal ¤¤
http://internacional.cosentinonews....tion-agreement-with-tennis-player-rafa-nadal/
[Excerpts]
The Cosentino Group, world leader in the production and distribution of innovative surfaces for architecture and design, enters into a collaboration agreement with tennis player Rafa Nadal, considered the best Spanish athlete of all time. As part of this alliance, Cosentino will develop various promotional and support actions together with Nadal.

The first of these actions will be to sponsor the “Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar” project, the tennis academy that the athlete will open soon in his hometown of Manacor (Majorca/Mallorca, Spain) to promote the values of sport among youngsters.
The Cosentino Group supports this high-performance educational and sports complex via its flagship products Silestone®, world leader of quartz surfaces, and Dekton®, the Group’s new ultra-compact surface that is conquering the international architecture and design markets.
It is precisely the material Dekton by Cosentino® that will be mainly used for the various facilities of the “Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar”. Façades, flooring and other cladding created with this innovative product will grace the spaces of the Academy. Silestone® will also be used in areas such as the kitchens and bathrooms of the complex, the design for which has been created by two architectural firms from Majorca and Barcelona.
According to Santiago Alfonso, Cosentino Group’s Director of Marketing and Communications, “collaborating with Rafa Nadal is a source of great pride for us all. Nadal is so much more than an exceptional athlete. His desire to achieve, his strength and ability to lead are some of the values that have made him a global celebrity, recognised and admired everywhere. For Cosentino, where we have always committed ourselves to continually improve, innovate and search for that leadership to succeed, this partnership represents great satisfaction for all our employees, partners and customers worldwide”.
For his part, Rafa Nadal has expressed his satisfaction with this new alliance with “a Spanish company that is a world leader in its sector, encompassing a series of values with which I fully identify, in addition to supporting sport in Spain for a long time. I am sure that this collaboration project with Cosentino, starting with its help in the construction of the Academy, will be a long-lasting one and be productive for both parties.”

What is this about him not paying tax? I heard someone before compare him to Messi in this regard.

Also Octrollbrina, Is Rafa building it with his own hands?

Rafa is a citizen & resident of Spain and he pays taxes to his homeland.

(Spain is not a tax haven like Switzerland and Monaco where Fed & Djoko live. Messi is an Argentine who works in Spain...)

You must be a foreign citizen in order to be eligible for special tax agreements ("forfaits fiscaux") in Switzerland.

Hi there,

Are you concerned about him starting to go slightly bald?

*puts pedant hat on*

Technically you cannot be a foreign citizen (unless you become naturalised) - only a foreign national

*takes hat off*

This padel tennis centre-- tell me about the nets they will be using, is it true they are all 3 metres high?

Rafa is currently building "Rafa Nadal Academy" in his hometown

For juniors aged 8 to 17.

The facilities will include tennis courts (10 hard, 5 clay, 2 grass), a football field, swimming pool, medical center, multifunctional classrooms, museum and accommodation for 140 boarding students & 72 athletes.

No wonder, you keep staring at Rafa's backside - his bottom was named the world's greatest among male celebs by French magazine Voici!

This is still the second best thing ever posted on here I think.

Only the OP of the Eagle Thread was better.

It's so nice that Nadal is doing something like this. If people played tennis instead of fighting wars, the world would be a lot better place.

I heard Djokovic is planning to build a tennis academy.
