Nadal: This injury is different

If Nadal had a torn ACL he'd be on crutches. We can safely say 100% it isn't his ACL. Probably just a bad case of the same tendinitis he's always had.

Depends. Mickey mantle played years on a torn ACL and Hines Ward for the steelers played his entire career without an ACL After he tore it(in high school)- he was able to stregthen all his muscles and tendons around them.

No, Bob. That is not a fact. Tendinitis can be very debilitating to an athlete who is playing a sport at a high level, but that does not mean they have to be on a wheelchair. They can still go to the beach, movies, fishing etc.

Seriously, he took pics on a yacht and standing behind family members on the beach. How exhausting!!

I wonder if he's going to keep on withdrawing from events one at a time, or will he say, right I'm going to be out for at least this amount of time.

What's weird is after the Rosol match there was no mention of anything, so perhaps he did something in training, but there has never been any sort of estimate about how long he needed. He hoped to be fit for canada, and then Cinci and the The Us Open, couldn't doctors give him a better forecast on how long it would take to heal?

Got to be really frustrating for Nadal fans (even i feel frustrated) because you have no idea when he might play again.

I'm sorry yeah but what I find odd my friend, is the way he and his team make it sound, he shouldn't be walking yet he's on holiday having fun, no problems?.

Well if he can do them things and train, YES train at the same time, he shouldn't have a problem, no?

Just take more injections and he'll be fine.

Its not likely an ACL. Bad cases of tendonitis can be career ending though, so I hope he gets better with this break. Tendonitis is painful, reoccuring and fickle. It can basically pop out of nowhere without warning. I heard on tv today that Nadal is also very worried about his knees and life after tenniswhich is smart. Im sure he doesnt want to be 35 and prohibited from enjoying life due to knee pain This is obviously very serious if he has pulled out of the USO after over a month of rest. With that said, Im sure he will be back and will win slams. He might just have to manage his schedule better and play more selectively. Even if that means a lower ranking and tougher draws. He's talented enough to get through and win regardless.

He will do it one tournament at a time otherwise it is bad for business (tennis.)

Good grief, man. Taking more and more pain killing injections is not the answer.

Yeah that and the fact that it's so far in advance that he feels like it's not gonna get better in 2 weeks. Must be really bad.

well maybe he will be better in 2 weeks but he needs a few weeks of practice?

It's hard not know just how many weeks is is likely to need to get fit, there has never been any estimate given really..

That made me laugh. It would be hilarious if it actually happened, as the anti-Nadal brigade would be up in arms insisting that he was "never injured."

For a minute I thought he might not qualify, but he is well over 5585 and there aren't enough points left for seven to overtake him.

Yes you're right, very very rarely there are people can get by without an ACL, but when you tear it initially your knee swells up and the pain is incredible. If Nadal had recently snapped it he wouldn't be walking around is what I'm saying.

According to an Espn talking head, apparently its left knee tendonitis but I have not seen this come from Toni or Team Nadal.

This means I was right about the injection marks on his left knee at Wimbledon.

Rafa will have a press conference tomorrow in Manacor.

I wonder if surgery is an option for him.It could mean season over but long term thinking it could be a good decision.

I don't recall anyone seeing injection marks ever on Rafa's knee cap.

PRP requires injection into the tendon, the location of those marks are not consistent with the treatment.

Possibly, injection marks from pain killers, but as I've stated before, they are quite large, almost as if several injections were made into each of the three areas.

Who knows?

Diddums. What do you expect posting crap like that? My opinion of you goes down more and more with some of the horseshit you post, and a few others would agree.

dude dont take it so seriously man there plenty of people who do that around here if you seriously feel THAT offended which i feel is a bit of an over-reaction put him on your ignore

Wow, multiple injection marks on the left knee. I think his career is nearly over.

Wow didn't notice that if that is indeed what it is. Wonder if it was cortisone? blood spinning(like what Kobe and Grant Hill had)?

Updated: Nevermind this explains it all

Nadal twice underwent magnetic resonance imaging scans during Wimbledon because of concern about his knees, particularly his left knee. After the loss to Rosol, El Pais reported that he consulted with his personal physician Angel Cotorro, who also works with the Spanish Tennis Federation and then returned to Vitoria to receive injections from Mikel Sanchez, the same physician who has administered platelet-rich plasma therapy to Nadal in the past to address his tendinitis.

Those pics were taken at Wimbledon before the loss in other words, MRI was taken after the Rosol match.

edit - I just re-read your post, it appears the MRI was taken DURING Wimbledon????? He lost in the 2nd Rd, not much time for it to be taken.

agree but he had the plasma therapy before and those could be scars from that.
