Nadal to lose RG and win W/USO?

Could we have another 2009 scenario on our hands next year? With Thiem on the rise and Nadal's clay dominance starting to crack, 2020 could be the year the Prince finally becomes the King, while Nadal's HC form has been stellar this year and he's been registering great performances at Wimby recently until the Fedr match.

Where do you figure Novak would be during this period? Will he have another so-so level after the AO?

Too far off to predict.....6 months is a long time at 33.....His FO dominance will end at some stage and could indeed be next year....Really, really excited about 2020.....AO looks fascinating at this stage....

How is his clay dominance cracking? Because masters events going to best of 3 sets instead of 5 giving others a prayer? Well, the FO is still formatted in a way that forces someone to beat him in 3 sets. Nothing I saw last year or the year before looked like cracking. Ask Fed.

LOLz Timmy hasn't come close to beating RAFA at RG. In their 4 matches there, he has won a grand total of 1 set. And after failing to close out the match vs Aristotle Jesus the 3rd, I doubt his mental strength even more now. You can't have the mental let down he had in the 2nd-mid 3rd set like he did in the WTF final against the clay god. Expect a repeat of this year’s final at best. Tsitsipuss doesn't even begin to approach RAFA's level of mental toughness

This pretty much ruins the whole "Thiem was tired in RG final” theory. If anything it was mental, not physical.

Nadal could only slip at RG if the new balls and roof make a difference, not because Thiem could ever hope to reach his top RG levels (not in his dreams).

Fed and Novak are the only active players to take more than two total SETS off Rafa. He's not losing next year to anyone but Novak if it were to happen

I'd be surprised to see a healthy Nadal lose at the FO even though I know it will happen at some point. One thing we know for certain it's that he will arrange his schedule to peak at that event no matter what.

Stop overhyping Thiem at RG... seriously, the guy has improved his hardcourt game this year and will trouble Nadal at the M1000 events on clay but he hasn't even pushed Nadal to 5 sets at RG yet.

Thiem wont beat Nadal at FO as not sure his stamina what it was. He will be more of a threat at USO to Nadal. Djokovic will not either as he is not the physical beast of past years.

As strange as it seems at the moment Nadal and Djokovic seem almost certainties for FO and W respectively for a while. Hard courts more open as more players comfortable on hard but then again Djokovic and Nadal have owned AO and USO respectively past decade so hard to see past either at either of those.

The rankings do not lie. Right now Nadal and Djokovic are way ahead of the rest. On another level. Really it was a shame the WTF final wasnt Nadal v Djokovic.
Thiem is 26 and so at his absolute physical peak. If anything, he has improved his stamina and physical endurance compared with his 20 years old version.

For instance, Medvedev has improved his stamina this year as compared with his younger days. Medvedev was so tired against Djokovic at the AO 2019 in a 4 sets match, yet against Nadal in the USO final he had no signs of fatigue in a 5 sets match. Probably he has trained more intensively and acquired more long matches experience to increase his stamina. So it is common that players improve physically at age 22-27 compared with their 19-20 years old version.

Thiem was healthy in RG and couldn’t take out Rafa.
Thiem has some virus or something both USO and AO. Been very unlucky there.
I think he could have a chance in USO if healthy.

Nadal still hasn't won a non-RG GS when he is not a RG champion. He was 3 games away from doing that at AO 2017, However.
