Rafael Nadal will begin his preparations for Wimbledon at this summer's Aegon Championships at Queen's Club.

The 14-time grand slam champion won the tournament in 2008 prior to clinching his first Wimbledon title with victory over Roger Federer.

Nadal was forced to pull out of the event last year because of the wrist injury that dogged him in 2016 but showed with his run to the Australian Open final that he remains a force to be reckoned with.

The Spaniard said: "I am very happy to be coming back to Queen's in June. Winning the title in 2008 is a great memory for me and it is the best way for me to be ready for Wimbledon."

Francis Roig will be with Rafa at Queens.

tax issue solved ?...

express.co.uk, June 16, 2015:
¤¤ The tax rules have relaxed recently, with foreign players now taxed only on performance and training days rather than days spent in the country.
"It is still not the ideal situation for us, but it is better than a few years ago," he [Rafa] said. "I had to stop playing here for a while." ¤¤

I seriously hope rafa goes deep at wimbledon which is my favpurite slam and my favourite player has been bad in it since 2012.He has been a bit unlucky i feel surely he can do better than early exits.Just hoping he goes deep and I feel a more attacking approach could be better for him there.
Totally agree with you that he's been unlucky at Wimbledon recently on top of being unfit with injury. Hope he'll have better luck this year.

I do indeed, real shame I've never gone to Queens before! Been to Wimbledon and the WTF.

Lucky b******s you Londoners, hogging all the best tournaments in the UK! Can't believe you've never been to Queens before!

;)

They have increased the CC capacity by 30% so it might be easier to get tickets. I have never tried to get tickets for Queens though I have been to Wimbledon and the O2 a few times. I'm not sure how easy it is to get tickets for Queens.

rafa looking good. will win queens/wimby grass double. tt will party like it's 2008. haters in ruins. ;)

:D

Don't see it happening though. I think Nadal would rather a 10th French Open than another Wimbledon at this point in his career. So, I'm sure he's more focused on that, as opposed to winning on the grass.

Can't wait to hear the umpire saying "Code violation, Sir Andrew, for verbal obscenity" :D

If he dares to do that, Sir Andrew may just tell him to **** off! :D

But it's unlikely to happen. Andy has already warned Kim she will have to clean up her language when she becomes a Lady. ;)

I want to go but last year is putting me off... Rained on and off all day. Managed to get one match finished in several pieces over the afternoon. There's not a huge amount to do during a rain delay. Did get money back for the tickets, and fortunately my train ticket was heavily discounted otherwise I'd have been more annoyed! Might umm and ahh over it a bit more until the general sale and see what there is... still fingers crossed for the Wimby ballot too...

Neither can I.

I will be rooting for Murray up until the QF at least ;) I'm sure that will make your day :D

I'll never forget when Cameron was on Centre Court in 2011 watching Nadal whilst James Ward was beating Sam Querrey on an outside court and as a matter of duty to the nation Cameron had to leave the Nadal match to go and watch Ward. Cameron had to be dragged away from watching his favourite player.

That's one of the reasons why I've never bothered to go to Queens because there isn't much shelter in case of rain. In fact I stopped going to the O2 unless Rafa is playing a day match because I live an hour's train ride from London and I don't like travelling by train late at night.

Ah, the terrible sacrifices one has to make when one is prime minister!

;)

I got bored of the O2, going for just 1 session seems pointless but then it's still so expensive to go for the day, plus train travel again. I don't mind getting back late as our trains are pretty good to the south and it's about an hour and a half, but it's like £50 return on top of the O2 tickets, and last time we weren't allowed to take food or drink so it's now even worse with having to pay their extortionate prices. I'll just watch on tv lol.

People pretending as if Rafa will make it to a grass court final in 2017 when he could only manage it once outside Wimbledon even during his prime.
