Sampras didn't win French, so I agree with Bladepdp... No French...not greatest. See...you are right, GS are most important...I gues you have to win them all to be considered the greatest. The only argument you could make is that Sampras beat Agassi in the final at US Open 2x and Wimbeldon 1x (maybe 2?)...Anyway, it's close, but no French = not greatest

This may come as a shock to you but women get excited about guys long after they're 16... Actually women can do pretty much everything that men do, including having crushes on people younger than them. (I'm expanding your horizon here!) Have you ever heard of " Harold and Maud"? Lol. Maybe I am 80 years old but I'm young at heart :)
PS: more seriously, I'm excited about Nadal because I believe he's the best player (or the one with the best potential) I've seen in all those years...

There will never be a consensus about what criteria should come first for greatness. Personally I think big wins on all surfaces is rarer than massive domination on 1 or 2 of them. There really aren't that many players who achieved as well on fast and on slow surfaces so I would say it's quite a feat. However, you can't dismiss number of slams either... Maybe there isn't 1 GOAT, maybe there are several ones.

Hmm, I can't help but think of the great Romantic composer Robert Schumann. You see, much of the music attributed to him was written...by his wife, Clara.

Subjective. You can't prove it. You don't see women's masterpieces alongside them because the women weren't allowed to do those things. And if they did, they couldn't share it.

I agree with you, though, on the 'masterpieces' gone wrong!

Try again. One person by the name of Schumann does not equal the likes of Plato, Socrate, Aristotle, Jesus Christ, Drakulie, Beethoven, Mozart, Stokes, Ghandi, Khan, Captain Kirk, Angelo, Picasso, Rembrandt, etc, etc, etc, etc etc

But why would you not post the truth ? Of course we're stupid in our unique way. I never quite understood how do women find their way to the ultimate champions in stupidity all the time as those guys ( I admit Im not that stupid .. ) usually get most of the girls .. :)

Those are women slams, they count 3 for 1 of mens. :) True story, she won a slam final in 34 minutes. I am trying to think but i can not recall last time a set in mens final ended in 34m. Oh sorry I remember, Rafa slaughtered some guy who was considered a G.O.A.T. at the time but turned out he's a scapeGOAT.

The hard courts are fair as far as how the ball bounces etc. Im sure Nadal doesnt mind, he's carving it up on the Hard courts and won the biggest prize of all on it!. Its the harshnes of the surface that disadvantages some players. Makes it too hard for them to play their natural style for too many matches or tournamnets in a row. Humans wernt built to pound for 2/3 of the year for up to 6 hours a day(play and practice) on such hard surfaces.

More natural surface tournaments would just be better for tennis. The masters series tournaments after the US open should be on natural surfaces.

Anyways Nadal is well on his way to becoming the best of the era. :) Or is he alreday the best of hsi era due to his dominating h2h(most in big finals) v Fed?:)
